Default Pit Lighting

was wondering who makes a good pit light? Looking for the Tall rectangular one that flips open. I like how it can move into any angle. Thanks for any help. Also where do you get them?

Ott-lite is the one you want. They generate the best light for working on your car. You can get them at Fry's Electronics for $40 or www.outpost.com (Fry's on the web) part #4054112.

You can also find them on ebay on occasion for less. If you need one without the wait check at fabric and crafts stores like Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc. Little old ladies like them for sewing and stamps but you'll pay full retail there, like $70.

as BlazinB4 siad, you can get the cheaper ones at office supply places like staples, office depot and so on.

Lowes carries the round ones.

No matter which brand you get, you can always add the Ott-Lite bulb.

I got mine at Staples for $19 for the light.

Let's not forget that Tre's can make an awesome cover for it or most everything in your pit also.

I work for a lighting company... there is no such thing as an OTT-light bulb.
they are just you standard 13watt compact flourescent lamp. just make sure you buy one that has a color temp of 5000K. white light. anythink less light will be more pink/orange color.

rc-zombies is correct.

The bulb that comes with the ott-light and is sold by ott-lite as a replacement is the 5000K bulb.....

It's much easier to go to Staples and ask for a replacement Ott-light bulb than ask for a 13-15W 5000 Kelvin bulb.

Default Ottlite- which version?

I'm considering buying one of these (ridiculously expensive) lights. The question is, do people prefer the regular version, for $70, or do people prefer the larger version with the magnifying lens attached ($130!!)

I'm not sure if I'm willing to pony up this much for a light, so I'd be interested to see what everyone thinks.

$70 version:
http://ottlite.com/productdetail.asp?product_id=19

$130 version:
http://ottlite.com/productdetail.asp?product_id=21

Let me know what you guys think of these.

The OTT-light is a huge waste of money in me eyes. I went to my local Fry's and they had the OTT-lite and then right next to it one made my Tensor. It was identical and cost 1/3 of the OTT ($20 vs $60). I bought one to try it out and liked it so much I went back and got another. At the price I can go back for a third for the price of one OTT.

At the local track several people have the OTT and I can't tell any difference other then the extra cheddar in my pocket to buy more tires!

save you money and get a general version from Office Max or Staples etc.
there's is nothing Fancy about the OTTlite..I work for a lighting company... cheap fixtures or expensive fixtures...they all use the same flourescent lamp.

I have had the one from Office Max for almost 4 yrs now with no problems. I think I paid around $25.

These things are like Drugs. You can get the name brand for $$$$$ or you can get the generic for $$$ LOL
