Ordered the dry cell holder for my futaba 3PK-S and it doesn't seem to fit....there is a rubber piece that surrounds that nicad pack that came with, do I remove that somehow, it doesn't seem to want to come out easy...

anyone using the dry cell pack and have this issue??

I built up a 9cell ni-mh pack for mine.

how did you build your pack? regular sub-c batt bars and solder like a race pack?

I have ni-mh sanyo 2700mah in the dry cell pack, should I solder them up instead of using the pack?

I filled mine with 2400 NiMH, and it's been working fine for a few weeks now. I just charge them on my normal peak charger (in the dry cell holder) at .5A. Usually takes about 2-3 hours for a full charge. No trouble at all. The readout on the radio is about 11.5V on a fresh charge, and doesn't start alarming until it gets down around 9.7V, which seems to take nearly forever.

OK, knowing the rubber comes out helped. I now have my drycell pack mounted perfectly.

I went to walmart in there camera section... I got 8 2200mah nimh batteries for 12 bucks.. Stopped at radio shack picked up some thin copper braid and made my own for under 15 bucks.. I used ot for over a year with those sells, and the guy i sold it to is prolly still using the same pack..

I use the GP2100 AA in my M8.

I drilled a hole in the bottom of the transmitter to allow access to the charge plug on the battery tray.

Its the same plug that plugs inot the Novak Smart Tray.

So, inbetween rounds, I unplug my smart tray and use that same plug to charge up my transmitter.

I think the transformer puts out around .5 - .7 amps, so its a nice easy charge on them.

They go just fine, have been using them almost two years, and the pack is usually well above 10 volts. When it hits 10, I throw it on the charger for 10-15 minuts.
It has worked out really well.
