Ive never seen any motor run as high as 51mm what type of stock motor are you running.
Ive only ever seen a 540 motor run as high as 48mm. I strongly suggest against using something that big if you are using one of the normal mainstream motors like a komodo or co27/x stock CarlosG you should ask around at your track which motor is most suitable and what the suggested rollout for that motor is. Different motors can have wildly different rollouts.
The rollout can then be effected by other factors such as track size, driving style and even your speedy (the variation would normally be around to -2mm to +4mm)

The only problem is that tc died here for now, and i was just needing a starting point so I can figure it out from their.
Also tried to calculate the pionion required to run with my spur for that rollout and their is no room for a pionion with my spur that I am using to run that rollout. I had posted the same question in the other cyclone thread and was given a starting point.

Hi ya'all I've got a small problem maybe someone here can help. I installed a novak 13.5 brushless system in my cyclone and i'm trying to get a FDR of about 4.5 to 5. in 48 pitch for asphalt racing. What spur/pinion combo should I use that will fit in this car? Right now I have a 77 and 78t spur gear. I thought about trying a 72t spur Thanks for any help/ideas you have.

That link is for the cyclone not the sport version plastic tub chassis. You also referred to the silver can as 27t, the silver can is normally a johnson 540 or an RS540 mabuchi thus the reason you have such a high roll out, if you were to run a 51mm on a 27t stock motor it would cook lol normal rollout is low to mid 30's, then high 30's to low 40's for brushless. Anyone running brushless in the cyclone S will probably want to buy the motor mount specifically designed for brushless motors.
It would be great if we could share setup sheets for the cyclone S for various circuits.
Ill try and post one for my local track.

I don't know. I have not ran 48p gears since my Xray T1 EVO. I have a 108t 64 pitch spur in my car right now. I could not get the 96t 64p spur to work with the pinions I had. I had to get a 35t pinion just to make contact with the 108t spur. I have the car originally box stock, except for the c-hubs and hub carrier so the motor mount is limited in how far the motor moves toward the spur and away from the spur. You will just have to try and findout by trial and error. Sorry, I could not be much of help to you on that question.

With the stock motors CO27s probably gear to maximum 29-30mm unless its a humungous track an X Stock gets geared a couple of mm higher if im not mistaken. But always better to start at the low end of the range and then gear up.

mangoman, can you give us an update on the 3racing motor mount? Were able to stop the bearings from binding?

I still race the Pro3 ( I like being six years behind in technology) but i picked up a Cyclone S to tinker with. I think the all plastic chassis should be fine for 540 parking lot racing.
