Ive never had problems with the stock ball studs. Although i wouldve thought they shouldnt snap on a cyclone S as the plastic parts should have more give.

1.What spur size is needed?
2.What pinion?
3.What do i need to be most aware off when running this kit?
4.Parts I need that comes off or wears off?

For gearing you should ask at your local track about what others are using. Typcially a brushless stock uses a high rollout so you could be using a spur as small as 69T (48 pitch).

So you often cant use the same spur/pinion from another type of car. You should be asking people what rollout or final drive ration they are running.
You can then workout pinion and spur by using the "gearchart creator" at www.gearchart.com

Anybody happen to catch Xtreme RC's comparison of the T2R and the S? I know it was quite awhile ago. What did they say about each car? What are some things to look out for with the S?

Personally from what i have seen the T2R is a good car. However, the full level cyclone by far out performs the T2/T2007 which is the upgrade for the T2R.

The T2/T2007 are cars which are extremely hard to setup for optimal speed, you really need to know what you are doing. The T2R is probably better as the chassis would have more flex due to the softer materials.

Also i have heard the T2Rs are very rare, i dont know if that is still the case. But i do believe it is an excellent entry level car (i think it is a touch more expensive than the cyclone S)

Looking for help / advice on recent install of a spool .... I have a Cyclone S in which I just installed a solid axle (spool). Prior to this it has been bone stock. I run 27T brushed with a 3200 LiPo. Yesterday was my first day with the spool and the car handled much differently than with a diff in front. I felt as if I was "drifting" every corner. It felt like a 2WD car, not a 4WD car. The front stayed hooked up but the back slid (a lot) around every corner. Prior to the spool, this was not the case, the car was hooked up front and back and had decent steering. Now I seem to have to throw the car around corners which just does not seem right (though it looks kind of cool). Other than this spool, there have been no other changes to cause this new driving issue. Any suggestions on what to look for is greatly appreciated.

PS - This is happening on power and I have tried playing with the rear diff as well (started off fairly loose and ended up about medium tight).

When you put in a spool/one-way you will always strip the plastic center pulley for the front belt. Note you probably are rear wheel drive only. The front will spin a little but if you hold the wheel you will get no drive when you spin the spur.

Upgrade to full cyclone level aluminium pulleys and center shaft.

70743 Layshaft

70725 x 2 16T pulley

Dont get 70714 its the layshaft for the center one-way. I'd strongly suggest against using a center oneway.

Grub screw should be z700, you will probably need 3 one for each center pulley one for the spur gear hub. (Make sure you loctite these grub screws in).

If you can find the layshaft in a store look at it. I think they now make it with holes so you might be able to use the plastic spur gear hub and center pulley for the rear.

Does HPI/HB use the same diameter ball joints as Tamiya?

I bought this Cyclone Front Solid Axle (Spool) for my Cyclone S

But the stock Cyclone S dogbones don't push far enough into the spool outdrives.

Are there other parts I need to put a spool in my Cyclone S?
