I guess the advantage to aluminum is that you can keep going if it's bent in a crash. If the price is right why not try it. I think I will.

I purchased a cyclone S kit this morning from speedtech RC

Now I am in the market for a Motor and ESC, perferably 17.5 brushless

Can some people please give me some opinions as I do not know much about choosing the proper motor (I can't really find any threads explaining this, I looked)

The car will be used mostly for fun, then I may try and get into some racing later on as I get a bit better

thanks
Mike

I don't know much about brushless, but the Novak Havoc 17.5 is a reasonably priced system. it seems to be good for fun driving and club racing. You can go on Novak's sight and check it out.

Hi

I have a got bought a Cyclone S form speedtechrc and have already decided on my electronics. Does anybody know though where I can get the parts for the car in Australia and more specifically Brisbane or (if that is too refined) Queensland?

Also if someone knows a good gear ratio for 540, that would be helpful too.

Thanks

Default Front Pivot Block Question?

The Stock Front pivot Block is a 0. What does it effect when you change it to say a 1.5 pivot block up front.

Thanks

Default Cyclone TC Chassis

Does the Cyclone TC Chassis mount up to the Cyclone S parts. or are they not compatible.

Errm I know this is one month late, but changing the front pivot block will give more front sweep (aka inboard toe-out). fitting a 1.5 block gives the front 1.5 degrees of inboard toe-out. This is different from the regular toe settings you usually make at the steering turnbuckles.

Front sweep angles the front suspension arms backwards, sort of like the wings on a jumbo jet. In theory, its effects are most apparent in the middle of a corner when the car is fully leaned over. more front sweep helps the front end dig in harder for more traction past the apex, but adds rolling resistance and drag.

In stock class you'll want the Cyclone S with 0 degrees front sweep to help it roll through the corners quicker without scrubbing off too much speed.

Mods will run more front sweep, often with a front spool to let the front end dig in hard at corner exit and let motor's abundant power pull the car through the turn quickly.

Just got my Cyclone S done. Easy build and seems to be a really great car, especially for $125! Anyway i just built right out of the box, including the shock oil. Anyone know what weight that is? Also what are you guys running for spur and pinion for 17.5. 80/60 sound about right?

I've used the 3racing chassis and it seemed fine. The Hot Bodies chassis would be better but you'll need more than just the chassis. The 3racing chassis is designed to be a replacement for the "S" so you get some standoffs, etc so you can attach the top deck. The Hot Bodies chassis I do not believe comes with anything other than the chassis. I could be wrong about that though. I haven't had the car in awhile but that's what I remember.

hi guys..need your opinion..my LHS is just selling the cyclone s drift special edition, and i want to use it for carpet racing. Can it be used for carpet race? Coz itz a drift spec model. And do i have to change some parts in the car so i can race it.? much info is needed.
Btw i will be using a 5.5t ezrun brushless motor, with lipo brick pack. And this setup what most racers use in my local track.
