I hate to do this to you
Canuck;
I really hate to do this to you, but try using the search option. There was a really good thread a couple of weeks ago about parking lot tire selection and you should be able to pull it up in a search. Use "parking lot tire or tires" for your search parameters.

Sorex, Pit Shimizu, and Take Off all make great tires for asphalt racing. I personally use Take Offs for asphalt and they work great.

Try the Take-offs pre-mounted tires. They make them in C22, C27, and C32 compounds and they go for like $34. Its a really good deal on really good tires. Plus they come mounted on multispoke wheels, and not dish wheels!
Thats about all most people ran around here last during the outdoor season this year.

Try the 27's first. i'm in Florida and they have been great in 60 degree weather all the way to the 90's. Be advised....they have much better grip when they are warm or have a couple of laps on them. Good Luck

Yokomo's not labeled
Canuck;
Make sure you label the inside of your rims with a felt marker when you mount a new set of tires. The Yokomo's are not labeled on the sidewall with the compound like the Take-Off's and Sorex's are.

Another thing to do is, keep your extra sets of tires in a "Zip-Lock" baggie to keep then from dring out.
The Yoko 138G's and HPI Red inserts should work fine on Rough asphalt. As a Second choice tire, pick up a set of Team Sorex 36R's and more HPI Red inserts. This will give you tires that will work on any asphalt surface.
If the asphalt is older and rough (weathered) then the 138G's should be better. On Fresh or resealed asphalt, the 36R's usually will out-grip the Yokomo's.
Take-Off 27CS's would be a good for a 3rd set of tires. You can usually buy the Pre-mounted sets cheaper than doing it yourself.
