We will see a return of shaft drive cars again ...
I've always felt it was something the R/C companies do to sell more cars. They build a shaft drive car, everyone buys it, and then when sales get low they build a belt drive car and tell you it's better. A few years later they build another shaft drive car and say that it is even better and everyone goes along. Then to get the racers on board they put whatever car they're trying to sell at the moment in the hands of the factory drivers and when it starts winning races the local racers believe they need one to be competitive so they go out and buy one.

I realy dont know, but i think that the Evo5 will be the last one. (For now)

The market for shaft driven high end touring cars, is not very big at the moment, and the Evo5 is a very very good shaft ride. I also say that it is the best shafty you can get.

It would be very hard to improve this car. And when you look around in the stock race series al around the world, most of the drivers have already swapped over to belt drive cars.

That does not mean that the belt drive cars are the better choice for stock, but they are not bader!!

That means they are competitive in more classes.

So i think there will no Evo6 come out in the nearer future. The focus of Tamiya is on the 416.

But who knows, maybe in a few years they will come popular again?

Greetings Blueman

No.

But i even know what rules this class have.

The Evo5 performs in all kind of stock class very well. I race it in 23T/13,5BL and also in 17T/9,5BL series.

With stronger motors maybe the beltdrive cars have a advantage but i never tried it.

Greetings from Austria,

Blueman

I get the motor next week (hopefully).
I am not sure what type of gearing you would run. As far as your measurements though, the standard gears on an EVO 5 are .4 module. Module is a metric measurement for gears. While pitch measures how many teeth fit in a given distance, module measures the width of each tooth. The two are not interchangeable.

Here is a link to a site for conversions to use as a reference:

Very intresting series. ! Here in Austria they call it Classic challenge, but its hosted by LRÜ/HPI and in this calss is onlay the Cyclone S and the sprint 2 Chassis alowed.

But for this the Evo5 will be a perfect ride. Its made for such stock race classes. Even with the kit oneway configuration.

Greetings, Blueman

1/10 DF-03 MS
1/12 Porsche 935 Martini (GT-01)

MS version, but when added this 2 words doesn't mean the new design, just include new options, we could not forget its weak point on diff gears and troublesome of changing spurs.
And i don't hope are again these "driftpackage" as come from other brands, just put their "ex-competition shaft-drive cars" as drift kits!
