  • Could someone please tell me why the rear sway bars are narrow on a evo5 connect at the inner hole on the rear arms as opposed to a 416's sway bar, which are wider and connect on the outer holes. I always wondered bout this. Thanks in advance.

    You can install any tamiya swaybar set. Just buy a ta06 set

    Because the 416 originally came with long arm suspension as opposed to the short arm suspension of the Evo V.

    My 416 came with short arms as did my Evo 5.
    My Evo 4 came with long arms and the narrow mounted sway bar on the rear.
    My 415 came with long arms and the wide mounted sway bar on the rear.

    The difference between the 416 and Evo 5 suspension was the bearing sizes.
    1050 for the 416, 950 for the Evo 5.
    The Evo 5 was released before the 416, historically the new innovations were released on the shaft cars then carried over to the belt cars i.e. "the new light weight suspension(w/950 bearings) first arrived as a kit for Evo3, then appeared stock on the Evo 4, then the 415msxxmre

    My 416 came with long arm set. You must of had one of the newer 6 month revisions. This is the one I had. You can even see the long arms in the instruction manual.

    I doubt anyone will know the real reason for what your asking. David Jun loves shaft drive cars. He ditched the kit sway bars for 415/416 style sway bars immediately if that matters to you.

    Ive tried 3.60 to 3.15 and just wondering what others are using.

    I am running 4.1 for 17.5
  • Juan (or anyone else!), did you get the TB04 gear diff yet? Hows the fit in the EVO bulkheads?
