Another option with stripped hex screws is get one of those cheap all in one screwdrivers. They usually have a few torx bits included. With metrics there are torx bits that are in between the metric sizes, so you take a torx bit that is just slightly too large for the metric head, then you hammer it in the stripped out head. I usually apply a little heat to be sure, but they usually come right out if you hammered the torx in deep enough.

I keep a few cheap torx bits in my toolbox just for this purpose.
