I have general questions. What washers / shims are you using to adjust the bumpsteer? Is anyone using anything other than plastic for the wheelbase and inboard toe / width? Please post part # for anything you are using. Thanx
Associated PN 31286 has 4 2mm and 4 1mm shims. Normally on the setup sheet youll see black/silver (the ballstud) + the mm shim. You can also use them for wheelbase if you wish (just a bling factor really ). I use them for toe as well. Easier to keep track of how many mm's are in vs what * shim is in, plus the plstic shims can get squished, and then the value changes.
What washers/shims are people using for the hex spacing? I see on some set-up sheets from the factory drivers that sometimes they change the hex spacing. What are the part numbers for the hex spacing shims?

I recently got back into the sport and just finished building a TC5R. How do I set the camber on it with all the suspension slop? I was checking it with a Hudy setup system and there appears to be 2 degrees of camber play front and rear. I've tried replacing the stock ball ends with RPM heavy duty ones which removed some of the slop but the rest seems to be coming from the bearings. Is there any way to remove this play?
If I set the camber at -1.5 it deflects to +0.5 if I push the car sideways like what happens in a corner.
Do I set the camber based on cornering loads or straight line loads where the tire isnt under any side loading?

I always set my car up on the Hudy board using static values. It's true that settings deflect under load but I've never had a problem. My Xrays are probably worse than my TC5R. I just ignore a little slop, hey it's better than things binding.

I just picked up a TC5 yesterday second hand and I was wondering if there is anything I would need for the car besides the usual spare parts. Also, I'm not sure if this has been asked, but I have seen a lot of the set-up pages on AE website and it seems that a lot of the drivers are using the slipper spool. What's the difference between the slipper spool and the regular spool?

be sure to build the shocks right the first time
The slipper spool will give a slight slip when you nail a board. It's almost like running your diff really, really, really tight. Just less chance of snapping the diff screw.

Is there any difference between the offroad shocks and tc shocks, the way they are set up? Most of my experience is in offroad, so that is why I am asking. I plan using the MIP shock o-rings, like Rick said to use in the other thread.
Is there any performance advantages from the slipper spool to the regular spool? Or is it just a safety thing so you are not breaking a part.

Go to racing up in the top bar. Then right below the RC10 logo is another selection bar. Click set ups. Then pick the type of vehicle or the driver.
