Default Gear Diff

I have been running a Top Photon Gear diff for some time now.
They are cheap small and light, They are easy to fit in a TC5 (don't need to much shiming) only draw back is they are not too strong but seem to be ok with 17.5

So far as I know the TC6 uses the same arms as the TC5. The 6.1 arms should fit your TC5. I plan on getting them for mine when they're available.

Here's my 350 Z body that I posted pics of in Post #12975. I added running lights too it. Now, its still not the fastest car at the track, but it does look cool! These are RAM lights. Easy to install, and they just plug into an unused slot on your receiver. Teeny tiny power draw. Nothing worth considering.

Now, three other racers have bought 350 Z bodies because they like the way this one looks and handles. http://www.rcarindy.com is our track.

Questions?? TC5r ride height adj for VTA

Hello everyone, I need some expert help with my TC5r for VTA. I am unable to get the ride height below 8 mm? I have tried all combinations of a pin holes and anchor blocks. Also how can I minimize chassis tweak when tightening up the base plate screws? The car is fast in straight line but handles like a wild pig.

Thanks in advance, DP.

2A for your arm mounts and 3-4mm droop should be around 5mm ride height. the vta tires arent that big.

running swaybars? where are your shocks mounted? more setup detail would be helpful.

Default VTA Riding Too High

Shocks are set at 3A front and rear, no sway bars on chassis. It seems like I am missing something major in the set-up or have the wrong shocks on the car?

Do I need to invert the arm mounts to lower the car for VTA? My tires are 66 mm diameter front and rear.

Thanks for your reply Valk.

there must be something bunging up your suspension. with no changes to my 17.5 setup, just the vta tires and unthreading the shocks i can get 3.5mm. not that id run that lol. very steep control arm angle.

im running 2a mounts all around, shocks 2bf 3br, droop 4f 3r.
did you build the car or buy it prebuilt? what springs are you running? stiff springs would cause that. shouldnt be running stiffer than blue.silver for rubber tires for the most part.

Questions?? VTA set-up

I bought the car used and prebuilt, it has blue and silver springs. I think it may be the droop and will check it again tonight. Something is wrong with the car because I blow shocks every weekend.

What do the FWD Arm Mount - RWD Mount Shims settings (under the suspension geometry settings) exactly refer to on the front and rear diagram? Examples: 2A, 3A. I understand just about everything else. Definitely a new builder of kits but I tend to become extremely methodical and careful when it comes to my hobbies haha. All of the members here have all been great to read about. Thanks
No one seem to have answered your question yet, so here we go:

1,2,3 are the number of dots on the mounting blocks regarless of A or B.

A and B are the position on the bulkheads A low position, B high position.

Then REAR or FORWARD, each bulkhead has a front and rear screw to fit your mounts, so for front suspension FWD 2A and RWD 2A means that you are using 2 dots bushing on forward and rear of bulkhead on lower position.

to use anti-dive, anti-squat or pro-squat you might have 2B and 3A for exemple, either setup is for front or rear suspension arms.

Hope this is clear.

The top mount of shocks should be set loose so that the shock swing easily without too much play.

In theory the arms should fit, they are stiffer but waiting on mine to arrive to confirm, what will not fit is the CVA as they are of different diameter bearings.

In fact the new corners on TC6.1 are all new, TC6 was using TC5 parts.

So if you want to change wishbones, caster blocks etc..you will need new CVA too, wishbones only should be straight swap

Default TC5r ride height for VTA

Mystery solved, it was the droop. Way off, now I have 6 mm ride height with about 1 mm of threads showing on shock bodies. Much better. Set front and rear arms at 2A, shocks still at 3A. Also there was zero rear toe so I set that at 3 degrees total. I will drive it now and tune from this is point on. Buying a used car is always a gamble.

Thanks for all the help Valk. DP

yesssss but if your anything like me, $150 for a roller is a lot easier to swallow/explain to wife than a $399-$549 kit.

if your car is handling like a pig, you probably have it set up too agressively for your traction level. id probably set it up for outdoors and fine tune it from there. lower rollcenter, inboard shocks and lighter oil/springs ect. i went through the trouble of trying a team driver carpet setup but went right back to my outdoor one after 2 minutes of ice skating around our carpet track ha.
