I found this comment about the new Associated TC in a blog.

Quote:
Another rumor doing the rounds today is about Associated factory drivers running other cars (namely Xray T2..) in testing preparing for the first big international TC race of 2007. Great proffessional attitude to their racing by Associated, ain't it?

Apparently there are still not enough prototypes available even for their top drivers! Everything is as we have come to expect of the American manufacturers in other words.

The difference, when comparing Losi and Associated's development work on their new cars, to the competition from Japan and Europe is enormous. So don't be surprised if these cars are already old tech when they're finally released (in August '07 ? )...

.
To me it is just unbeliveble that there is still just a few prototype cars existing as they have been testing it for more than 6 months!! Makes it hard to believe it's anywhere near production. It must be very innovative new tecnology on that car when it takes this long. Or maybe they prioritized the RC8 instead and forgot the touring car???

First off, that blog is crap. That has never happened.

Second, we have ONE designer on this car. He is making this his priority, and is making sure it is done to the best of his ability before the vehicle goes out. The FT TC4 hasn't done very well (duh)....we need this to be a VERY good car...and if that means it takes a little longer to be completed then so be it.

Thirdly, the production of this vehicle is being done by Thunder Tiger. When the parts are done, they are sent to us to QC and approve. Then production is continued. Unfortunately, this takes time because of TT's local.

This is the same stuff that was said about the B4. It's taking too long, all our drivers are driving Losi cars, etc etc etc. Funny how it goes from vehicle to vehicle. Not trying to be a, well, d*#&, but...

Well, it COULD have been done by now, but the ONE designer didn't feel it was completely ready. It's his baby....when he feels its the best it can be, it'll be done.

I hope it sooner than later...even I'M tired of waiting....

The TC5 was looking very good tuesday night in the club race. Local driver Brian Jucha was running some of the fastest laps seen. so far in mod with only billy easton, paul lemieux, and brian jucha running under 10 second laps.

One thing ppl need to realize is that when the US companies release a car it is done right. And it sticks around for a while and isnt outdated in 6 months and replaced. The TC4 was just a bandaid on an old design and wasnt a new car just a better(?) TC3. I give Associated big props for not falling into the TC of the week rut and sticking to thier values of providing the best possable products that stand the test of time. I know inovation and new technology is what makes a winning car thats why the new belt car is worth the wait.

at least AE doesnt have a "racer of the year" version of all of their products :P

or would a "TP-TC5" (Tony Phalen Edition) with all red and black anodized parts be cool or what... :P
