This hobby (Like many others) is only as expensive as you allow.

TC4 vs. TC5 not really, but a couple questions.

What are the major differences between the two?
Are parts interchangeable?
Speed controls and motors: Recommended? Any too strong?
I'm working with Mamba Max. 7700 and 9000. Good? Too much? Not enough?

Basically, I'm looking in to getting one, just not sure which. I don't plan on racing, but the carbon fiber does look sweet. And I do want a sweet looking ride. Not overly important, but it would be nice.

Looking for a setup for a tc5r for the IIC. Im racing in amatuer 17.5 rubber. Never raced on carpet, and lost as far as what to do. Anyone have any good setups? Thanks in advance...

Major difference is night and day most parts are not interchangeable but not all like springs shocks diff balls may be the same. The adjustabily is far superior than the TC4. TC5 is more of a race car than a basher and the price you can get a tc4 RTR new for like 240 bucks and TC5R for 360 bucks no tires, servo, motor, ESC, radio, receiver and body. by the time you are done with tc5r I'll say maybe 600 bucks if you get most of the stuff used bucks or more.

Nobody can really tell you if it's too much it's more of a preference but remember the faster it is if you wreck the car the more you have to spend to fix it back up. But the TC5 is pretty durable and parts are cheap.

Being new to the hobby, i don't know much about this: Any indication of a new one coming out from Associated? Rumors or anything? Is it past due maybe?

Like I said, I don't want to get in to racing, but I may be feeling the itch.

I got a 4tec for pretty cheap and am trying to get it running. Diffs were jacked. Think I fixed that, but a joint broke. So now I gotta fix that. I got it because I didn't want to go all out on a new car I may not like. But from the little I've gotten to run it, I almost feel like I don't wanna spend anything else on it and just upgrade. I think I may though, so I can at least justify the purchase by running it a couple times. LOL.

It will be a little work, but look back and find the last setup posted by Josh Hohnstein. You won't find a better place to start than that.

Thank you for all the info.

The reason i ask about "too much", is because I currently have an elec. 4tec. I installed my Mamba max in it temporarily, and the guys at the LHS said that was "waaay" too much power for the diffs. Only reason i bring it up about the TC4 and or 5.

Thanks again.

TC5 will definitely handle the mamba 7700kv I was using that motor on a modified class once the only down side is it consumes a lot of power for a five minutes race. My lipo battery and power wires would get hot. just make sure you listen to your differential tighten as neccessary.
