Default ACER Ceramic Bearings

It's time to replace many of my bearings and i was thinking of using the ACER Ceramic TC5 Kit.

Is it worth the $90?

Should i buy the kit or individual bearings only?

Can you see a diffrence in performance?

It is worth it to spend a little extra on high-quality bearings for the axles. But in my opinion the kit bearings (or similarly priced) are sufficent for the other locations.

Also check out Avid bearings. I would suggest extra wheel bearings and I prefer the good 'ol metal ones ($1 apiece). I would run the good ceramics everywhere else since they don't take as much abuse.

My 2 pennies...

I found the ACER bearings to be worse then the kit bearings. The APS ceramic bearings are nice.

So Im thinking about attempting an Ultimate TC5 Project. Where I'm going to build a TC5 with all the finest upgrades and fill in the rest with stock parts rather then building from a kit. Was looking for comments, suggestion, feedback, want to know if I'm crazy. Here are my thoughts.
  • Exotek TC5X lipo chassis and battery brace
  • Stock Rubber upper deck (I think it will be easier to control flex vs the Exotek)
  • The narrow rear bulkheads that move the motor in 5mm
  • Tamiya Dampers
  • Ti Racing Stealth CVDs up front and World Edition CVDs in the rear
  • Ti Racing Spool
  • Ti Racing Lay Shaft
  • Integy Aluminum steering knuckles and hubs (want feedback here, I've heard the quality on these aren't great. I do a lot of maintenance on my car and always wear out the nylon pieces)
  • Stock c-hubs (more flex vs aluminum)
  • Integy servo saver
  • APS Ceramic Bearings
  • JAAD Racing Ceramic Thrust Bearing
  • Ceramic Diff Balls
  • Parma Hard Bumper
  • Lunsford Titanium Turnbuckles (think the silverish color will look better)
  • RcScrews Stainless Steel screws (like the shiny silver screws better - don't want titanium b/c I will likely need the weight)

Thats all I can think of right now for upgrades. The rest would be stock TC5R parts.

Has anyone tried these? They seem to be very similar in design to the stock tc5 ones. The materials look better. Maybe they are stronger, last longer, less play?

Sounds like awesome project. Make sure to do a play by play when you are putting stuff together.
