Maybe I will try it with second tc5 when I build it

Btw with steering link 1-A, car is not to nervous?

Seems good at the time being.

Dunno really thats the only way I've driven the car, I've tapped out the threads in the steering blocks in both holes. I was thinking of trying out reducing the ackerman sometime in the near future.

Default pitch 64 and pitch 48

Hello guys,

I am thinking of switching to pitch 64, is there any advantage on doing that?

I think with pitch 64 you got more options of gearing right?

they are smaller, smoother and quieter. For 17.5 they really help because you need a large pinion and small spur that are hard to get in 48p. im only running 48p because my motor mount was scratched up causing my motor to move.

I am going to run modified now on my race club, do you think it is a good choice?

As long as you run a 75 tooth 48 pitch spur and you have one of the newer speedos like the Tekin or LRP SPX you shouldn't have any problems getting the gearing you need for 17.5. With Associated making a 69, 72 and 75 tooth spurs for 48 pitch it is easy to get 17.5 and 13.5 gearings with little problem. Having my car run quiet with 48 is never a problem.

Right now I have 48 pitch pinions up to 35 tooth and Precison Racing I think it is makes up to a 37 tooh 48 pitch pinion.

37/69 would be 3.73 final drive and with the huge boosts from todays speedos I think you should be covered.

Yeah your right. After 35 tooth they jump to 37, 39, 41 and so on. I use the black aluminum pro gears. Work great with the Associated 48 pitch spurs.

I've noticed since changing my gearing to 37/66 (3.56:1) that I get some noise from the gears at low speed but its fine at resonable throttle. Is that just a normal downside to 48p at such tall ratios?

I have found most of my noise depends on what brand pinion and spur gears I run. Right now the Robinison Pro 48 pitch matched with the stock Associated 48 pitch gears or Kimbourgh gears run very quit. The Losi 48 pitch pinions always have ran extremely quit with Losi 48 pitch gears and the Kimbourgh and Associated 48 pitch spurs.

As you mess around you will find pinions and spurs that seem to be a little smoother when matched together. Some brands just are smoother together than others.

As long as you have a touch of play and no tight spots you will be fine.
