Ok, so A is less steering. Thats what I was looking for. Thanks.

Default One-way or spool

Hello guys,

I race in Denmark, this is our first year with 9.5 brushless in Super stock. We are using 5 cells, and rubber on carpet.

Last year we used 19T brushed, and one-way was fastest on almost all tracks. This year I'm in doubt, and I can of course just test the 2 setups back to back. But I thought that maybe 10.5 with Lipo was similar, so I could get some of your experience there.

My feeling is that 9.5 brushless is so much faster than 19T brushed, that it is faster to adapt a driving style where your brake before tight turns you approach fast. which is dificult with a one-way.

So what's the verdict, one-way or spool in super stock?

If you run a one-way turn down your brake epa so that it isn't locking up the rear wheels and causing the car to spin out when you do brake.

No more traction roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the regular Mazda 6 and Jaco blue fr/Rr and I picked up 2 laps. I did change my ackerman from 1B to 1A and it smoothed things out a lot too. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Josh H.

When you say 1.5 mm droop, which to me seems a little hard to get, I was wondering if you went back and checked the droop the old way at the arms?
If you did what did you get? I was wondering how little at the arms is the droop? Because it seems like there is very little droop ie. very high number on the arm droop gauge and the arms angled up.
I hope this is clear on my question.
Thanks and God Bless

Many drivers measure the droop over ride height. So if you set RH to 6mm then droop would be 7.5mm.

Hope that clear...

Josh....thank you for posting the set-up. Had second fastest lap at my track today and would have finished second in the main but it thermaled on the last lap! Damn. First time in a while I made the A. I was ready to get rid of the car after last week-end! Again THANK YOU!!!

So make sure I am doing this correct.
You set your ride height, say 5.5 mm, then you want 1.5 droop.
So you slide the ride height gauge underneath to 7 mm and adjust the droop screws until the tires almost lift off.
Is this correct?
Do you have to watch the shock spring tension while doing this?
Thanks and God Bless

Thats exactly right.
If the AE gauge is easier for you just set the droop with the ride height gauge and then see what that equals on the AE gauge.

Yes you do need to watch the spring preload when the droop gets below 2mm. The spring should spin fairly free on the shock when the tires are off the ground.

That is good to hear.

A solid setup really makes racing more fun.

Default DROOP

Usually, there are a few way to get Xnumber over ride height (all basically the same idea)
1. set ride height...the usual way...with a ride height gauge.
2. begin setting droop, lift car on whichever side you are setting droop on, life until the tires just start to come off.
-turn the droop screws until the desire droop setting is established.
-keep doing step 2 until desired goal is achieved.

it's super easy...

time permitting somtimes after the first two step...i would use droop blocks to get the equivalent number off the block and mark my setup sheets, this also might help with identify if something is tweak'd.

just my process.....quite a few people do it differently.
