the mamba will cut itselft off around 250.

your setup should overheat - i say drop down to between 14-16 pinion.

btw, how much drag braking do you guys use on the mamba for asphalt racing?--say on a normal track.

ive asked around and heard not to use drag brake-but I sort of disagree.

I don't run any drag brake any any of my cars (that inclueds my off-road cars). Once you get the hang of the way the car rolls at neutural throttle then you will be able to run some fast laps, other wise I would say if you want to use the drag brake as a fail safe when driving in to the turn, then it might help for if were to get into a lot of dust, or if the track is very loose (but a set-up change will help that).

Your best bet is not to use it, but at the same time it is a great way to learn to drive as as your car will slow down a little faster so you can hold a tight line a little better. Also the drag brake will cause things to heat up, and heat will slow you down durring the run.

I noticed that without a drag brake it was easier to get fast laps (different ESC though). I prefer to keep of the brakes and just let the car coast (of course braking manually if I need to) when cornering.

you can probably put a 6 pinion on that 7700 and still have more than enough top/bottom end

To be honest, the car will get faster with more drag brake most of the time. Start w/50%, watch the lap times, and go from there.

I ran the kit with the box stock set up last night for the first time with rubber on carpet. I ran 13.5 and the body I was using was the Protoform R9R. I ended up lengthening my down travel (reduced droop?) both front and rear and changed the sront springs from blue to silver for silver all around. I was looking for a little more rear grip low speed. I have been reading alot of the R9R body saying that might be a big part of the problem. Try another body, which I have, or just play with set up some more? What would you guys do first?

You can't go wrong with the Mazda6 on rubbber/carpet. Give it a try. You could also try moving the rear wing around, I'm playing with that right now with foam on carpet, but same sort of issue.

I've already changed the wing getting ready for our practice day. Then I'll be changing bodies to see how much of a difference it will really be.

Thanks Johnny Wishbone. Hopefully see you in a month or so.

I have that set up as well. But if you look he's running the Mazda 6 body. I think most of my problems are coming from the body, with the current set up I have. I'm chasing this set up down at the moment, and the next logical step for me in the set up is the body.

I have run something very close to Josh's setup with a Speed and the new R9R. I dropped 6 tenths with the R9R no changes to setup only a couple of less clicks with Dual rate.

Maybe I'll try that after the body change. I went from 100% down to 60% on my dual rates trying to control the back end. I lost way to much initial and exit doing that and the the back end would still be unpredictable for me. I think I enev have a mohawk body I could try.
