Default Lack of corner speed?

I mostly run rubber tires on carpet. When i compare the TC5 to my colleagues cars (PHI, 416), they have a lot more corner speed i think.
Mainly the Corally carries off-power a lot more speed around the corners.
They run a similar set-up (droop, shocks, tires, additive).

Is there a way to improve the corner speed?
BTW: i run ITF chassis and top-deck

Thanks...

Have you tried running less droop with a one-way? My TC5R carries more corner speed any any other car that I have. The car is very capable. If you need a setup I would be more then happy to send one your way.

That sounds good to me. I'll get some of the wheel shims and try that also.

Do you have a part number for those shims?

I use a mix of AE, Losi and Dubro washers for shims....I just measure them to make sure they are the correct thickness I am looking for....

I have found the same thing with this car. Just needs more off power steering. Not a loser rear but more steering.

When i was running carpet I tried every adjustment on the car including the one way. All to no avail. Well, I went out doors and had no clue what the car needed so I put the new stock rubber setup on it. Well, the same oil front and rear is what made this car turn off power. Even tried the same spring and liked it even more.

I have said it before and will say it again. This car is 98% shocks.

I would bet that you are running 5 or 10wt heavier oil in front ??

When carpet season gets here Im just gonna take it and throw it on the track as is. Its probbly gonna be a hand full and way too soft but I bet it will turn !! From there I just need to stiffen it up to take the extra traction away. Should be really easy to dial in now.

Hope this helps.
DK

Default TC5 and motor help

I'm wondering which one of my stock motors is better for my LHS track. The track is 72' by 32' ozite carpet track. I believe that the Fantom team stock is better for the track because it has 3,000 more rpm than the Cobalt which will make it rocket off the corners. The TC5 is using the stock 87 tooth spur and I usually use a 25 or 26 tooth pinion.

Here's the motor's specs.

Fantom Team Stock Limited Ed.
RPM: 23,031@5.0V
Power: 63W @11.0K
Eff: 41.9% @ 14.2K
Torque: 962 gm/cm

Trinity Cobalt Pro tweaked
RPM: 20,117@5.0V
Power: 62W @10.2K
Eff: 46.8% @ 13.6K
Torque: 98.3 Nms

Need to know before September 1 for the opening race of the track. Thanks!!!!

By looking at those specs I would say go with the Fantom...

Not sure how you have it set up....but a red/purple spring combo with F-brushes would be worth a try...

Unfortunatly they don't sell corner speed in a bag.
I can assure you that this car is capable of the same or more corner speed than the other cars out there.
One thing I see alot of people do is sauce a small portion of the front tire and then use too much steering throw to make up for it......this will kill your corner speed.
I try to set my cars up to run with full sauce on the front tires and then dial some steering throw out of the radio........about 5 foot circles (or 1.524 meters).

If you want to post your setup and tell us about your track, i'm sure we can help you find the corner speed you are looking for.
