I have talked to Bob about the cg thing, and he always told me the loss of stiffness due to reducing the size of the "box" is not worth the miniscule amount the center of gravity is moved down. What are the heaviest things in the car? Battery, motor, servo...which you can't get any lower.

The FK04 is still one of the baddest cars ever on carpet, and the layshaft is way inthe air

I've been gone for a while and I saw a number of people making comments on the slipper spool coming loose, this is what I have found. It is best to use locktite on the diff screw, I have even gone to the point of using red loctite as you never need to adjust or rebuild it. The biggest thing I found is that you have to retighten the spool after the initial build. The pads compress after being built so it is necessary to check the screw at least twice after being built. Another thing that we are experimeting with is using the thrust balls and washers when assembling the spool this will help keep the spool from backing off if you run into the wall while on power. Hope these tips help.

I have a TC5 right now and this coming Carpet season I will be running rubber tire, brushless and lipo.
Do you carpet rubber tire guys run the stock or ITF chassis?

What are you doing to add weight because of the lipo?

If you are adding weight at the battery what type or brand?

Thanks alot guys and God Bless

I have a regular TC5 with the 2.5 chassis/top deck. Running rubber tires what can I do to get more traction. I can't find the ITF top deck anywhere right now so what are some tricks with the stock chassis and top deck.

Try the o-ring trick on the 4 rear topdeck screws.

Also using 0 deg. rear hubs with at least 3 deg. rear toe should lock in the rear.

What is the rest of your setup? It would help to know this.

I assume you mean onpower rear traction.

5 instead of 6 droop in front.
silver spring front and green rear.
front diff instead of spool
Thin sway bar in front none rear.
1mm front wheelbase shim instead of 2mm.

These are the changes I did at the last race and it was glued.
Hope this helps.

You can gear much lower for speed, I run my 17.5 brushless at 3.6 FDR which is 88spur,48p at 64 pitch. MOtor temps are at 155-160 after six minutes at medium timing marks on my motor(no fan).
