final drive ratio shold be between 4.5 depending track and motor temp 4.5 to 5.0 somewhere in that range for a track 130 x 60

I still have the high downforce wing from a old Hot bodies mazda body. i may try that. I hate to dump the new body after only one race.
If you want to be competitive and drive a consistant car, body choice is very important. There's a reason why the good guys drive Mazda 6, Mazda Speed6, or DNA2 bodies 99% of the time. They give you the best handling and downforce and performance.

Do yourself a favor and get one of those three. As was already recommended try the Mazda 6 or Speed6...your car will handle much better with a good set up.

87T 48P Spur with 35T 48P pinion = 4.97FDR

Dont know if with the 87T Spur you'll ge the 35T pinion to mesh...might be too big. You should get a smaller Spur ASAP. Ideally a 72 or 75 is good size for 13.5 /10.5 motors

It is to big, he'll never get there with the 87T. You'll want a 78 maximum with 31 is close to 5.0. As posted even a 75T.

Ok. Thanks guys. I have a question. Is the Parma Mohawk a good downforce body for carpet?

This is my 5th year in R/C racing, but I still don't know everything. I probably never will!

Well this is what I have found. Using the set up posted on here by Robk for carpet with foam tires the mohawk doesnt handle as well as the Mazda 6. It handles ok but it tends to push just a little bit. I have adjusted the suspension for it but I still feel the car handled better with that little lip on that is on the front of the Mazda 6 body even though I am running foams.

Also I have the R9 body ordered. I am wondering if it will be better than the Mazda 6. The DNA pushed while the DNA 2 had way too much front downforce for foams......and yes I know that it was designed for rubber tire but I always try everything to see how it works. Ya never know when you are going to find that little edge that puts you in front by trying something out of the norm.

Will you be running foams or rubber tires? The rollout is a more accurate picture of the gearing. In foams the gearing changes as the tires wear down.

Rubber tire the wear is negligible so the gearing will remain the same. I can look at my set up sheets from when I was running 48p gears and give you and idea of what I used for 60 MM foams though. Maybe this evening as I am packing the truck to go racing this afternoon.

ok from what I know of the set up I got off this thread and how the Mazda 6 body performed I think the R9 body is going to be spot on. I just took another peak at the pics that Dale posted and that little lip on the front, I believe, will give that little bit of front downforce missing in the DNA and MoHawk bodies.

I can not wait to give it a try.

I do have a Mazdaspeed 6 body. I'm gonna go racing today, so I may bring the Mohawk and the MS 6. What about protoform Nemesis? It has a lip on it (at least mine does).

I'm using double pink, 56mm foams.

Is it true that running the aluminum servo mounts causes the servo arms to break.
