Do any of you guys have an idea of what would be a good starting point to run for a pinion size for 19-turn? We run a 24 x 48' oval track and the book shows no starting points for motor sizes.

I will test the new layout this weekend.

Equipment:

Servo: Futaba 451 Brushless
ESC: LRP TC spec
Rx: Futaba Fasst System
Motor: LRP 3.5t x11
Batts: LRP 4200UP Big Mama
PT: MRT Personal Transponder

I have used some duralium and titanium screws in some parts of the car.
You could get a little more weight, but it all all come from the motor side.. Micro RX and half size servo... but like I said it would come from the side you want to add 13 grams to... Just an idea...

brushless orion 13.5 motor.
You need to gear the motor around a 5.0 FDR (final drive ratio) to start with when using a BL 13.5 motor, then gear up or down from there, checking motor temps after a 5-minute run.

On my TC5, I run a Novak 13.5SS with a 4.72 FDR. The spur/pinion is 104/44 (64-pitch), while motor temps are in the upper 140's after a 5-minute race. Based on what others are doing (4.0 to 4.5 FDR's), my gearing could be a little steeper.'

Just in case you don't know how to calc the FDR, divide your spur gear by your pinion (104 / 44) then multiply by 2 (TC5 internal trans ratio). For Example: 104/44 = 2.36. Next, multiply 2.36 x 2 = 4.72.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do, I'll actually probably just sit tight for a while into the carpet season, only have 1 more asphalt race left at SWR on the 20th ....then it's gonna be hit and miss with carpet, I gotta get my diving schedule (I want to get my advanced certification by this time next year) and Jacob's mountain bike race schduled nailed down (I have volunteered to work on their website and be a photographer at the races) then see what/where I can do some carpet racing.

Won't be racing at speedworld anytime soon so you're out of luck. Get your parents to bring you to Stockton or Norcal during the carpet season.

Are these the little plastic do-hickeys that came with the kit? I wasn't 100% sure what they were for so i didn't put 'em on the bones. So do you jsut clip them to the end of the bones so they slide deeper into the outdrive?

Yes. They prevent wear and tear on the bones and outdrives.

If you do not use the plastic C shaped blades with the spool, it will not last long at all. The steel bones will eat the aluminum in about 2 battery packs. The blade just snaps on over the pin and goes into the spool. DO NOT run the spool without them.
