X Ray diff moving from side to side
Hi,
I have the ball diff on the rear in my Xray T1FK05, and yesterday I noticed it moves when I pull at it, from side to side by about 1mm. Is this normal?
TIA

I'll put my reply in the FK05 thread.

Shim it until you have as little play as possible.
It wont hurt it running with 1mm play but it might effect how the car reacts on the power.

As Espo was saying, check to make sure you don't have one or both of your eccentric mounts in backwards, because that will cause that. Take a pic it that doesn't solve it.

Anyhow, how do I get the labyrinth covers off? They seem very difficult to take off, as if they were glued... any tips?

A little side to side movement is ok.

I have noticed the same thing but instead of my diff moving it is actually the gear on the diff. This has to be normal becasue of the diff action and the fact that the gears are not secured to the diff with screws or anything else.If it were tight with no movement I would assume my diff is too tight freezing up or locking the diff into a spool or solid like diff. All my diffs have loose gears on them so check to make sure if it your diff moving or just the gear on your diffs.

But it shouldn't matter if the diff is in there untouched from the factory, I used to throw them in there untouched on my old cars.
