Default Losi XXXS graphite & alloy customs

Well, I couldn't wait for my son to do the electrics on his second Red XXXS. I'm too lazy to do some proper glamore shots but here are a few shots with the other Red Losi & his Blue Losi ;

This is our 2nd Red Losi XXXS, just finished

This is the first Red Losi XXXS

This is the Blue Losi XXXS

Group shot

Group of Losi XXXS showing all their TrackStar 3.5T motors. We are working on two more they will be different (hint) colors (hint) than these w/ more carbon fiber, but, it will be a few weeks

Exclamation Gold Losi XXXS

Here are a few preliminary shots from a plastic chassis RTR XXX-S. We tried things a little different this time, Assoc. TC4 suspension arms front and back as they are almost a perfect fit needing only minor work to fit XXX-S hubs. The Trinity, GPM, Dynamite, and Fastrack parts in red or blue were stripped and sent to a great anodizer for perfect gold anodizing. This is from a post We made about the anodizing : "We ( my boys and I ) have several sedans and wanted to do a couple chassis in colors parts are unavailable in. We Youtubed on the subject and decided against doing it ourselves. We called several Anodizers in Southern California with some trepidation as a number of members here have posted about parts being lost by the Anodizing Service that they used. We Settled on Precision Anodizing & Plating Services http://precisionanodizingandplating.com/ (714) 996-1601 in Anaheim, Ca. . It was a large factory and I didn't think they would want our business...I WAS WRONG. The Vice President himself, Abel Salazar, took care of us. The minimum $65 fee for each color applied, they have a waste disposal fee but they also have discounts that can offset that.
NO PARTS WERE MISSING ! in fact, each part or small group of parts were carefully wrapped in soft absorbent paper so no parts touched each other and numbered !! Beautiful satin finish. We chose Gold & Purple."

here's some pics :

We spliced in the front shock tower from a TT01 as an excuse to add more alloy and opened open front diff case to expose yellow diff pulley a belt.

The Gold carbon fiber was only smooth gloss finished on one side and it had steel wire interwoven in it ( very hard to work with to cut and drill ) it's only 2.65 mm think but VERY HARD & STRONG, it came from a company that makes drifter parts and racing parts for REAL cars.

Rear diff case louvered to peek at yellow diff pulley & belt.

Leopard 9T motor, dual cooling fans, nice full alloy cased servo with cooling fins

Losi XXX-4 HD yellow belt used in conjunction with Losi XXX-S long belt conversion tensioner. See that gold motor plate ?

PURPLE ONE IS NEXT PROJECT

Default Alloy Losi XXXS

All wired up now, the Gold XXXS :

Now laying out parts for Purple Alloy Losi XXXS :

Axles are FASTRAX stainless steel, alloy dog bone are factory Losi units as they are the thickest of all I've found, dog bone pins are IRS steel in nylon to save alloy out drives.

Dyed diff pullies with IRS alloy out drives. Dyed Robinson Racing 125 tooth 64 pitch spur gear with FASTRAX spur gear adapter. Josh Howard Designs kevlar reinforced drive belt to handle the 3.5T motor

Beginning asssembly

More updates in a few days

While I appreciate that I'm inclined to disagree, the work you and your son have put in is incredible. I believe the credit for the innovation shown in this thread belongs solely to you guys. Keep up the great work and I think at the end of your builds you should do a tie dye car out of the remaining pieces!

Unhappy Losi XXX-S graphite & alloy....Purple

Well, its done except for oil in the shocks, binding the reciever, programing the ESC.

the chassis and a few of the parts laid out

found this purple bumper on ebay

the vertical edges of the bathtub chassis were ground off and the purple carbon fiber was JB WELDed on.

lower arms and axles hung

prepping shocks, shock mounts and turnbuckles

rest of suspension, steering, sway bars, bumper all hung now

rear shot

laid out next to gold XXX-S

motor, motor plate, heat sink/ fans, and Robinson Racing Superlite alloy purple pinion gear

motor, servo, esc set into place

receiver, antennae, battery strap, and all wires soldered in

Well that's it until we get around for some glam shots of all the chassis together. Got more red and blue alloy parts in that have to be installed/upgraded to the two red and the blue XXX-S first. Already started on a speed Losi too, would like to put an oversized-way-too-long 1/8 truggy motor in ( so long that we have to cut a hole in the side of the body ! ). We were thinking Tekin Redline SC4X Sensored Brushless 550 motor (4.5 turns) & Tekin RX8 speed controller. I know that it doesn't pull the RPMs that a 3.5T 1/10 motors we are running but something like the Tekin is super torqey can run a 3s or 4s battery instead of 2s and can just be geared taller to convert that torque to speed, What do you think ? Any input here or PM me with advice would be greatly appreciated !
