I see 1/12th making a small comeback but not 1/10th. They are both the same with the 1/12th being a bit smaller so there is no need for 1/10th. The longer races and reduced speeds of 4 cell 1/12th also put it above 1/10th.
It much easier for a novice to drive Stock or 19T 4 cell 1/12th than 6 cells Stock 1/10th. A Stock motor 1/10th car on 6 cells is almost as fast as an Open Mod Sedan. This is too fast for novices.
We need to support 1/12th and let 1/10th Rest In Peace.

1981 the Schumacher XL with Lexan U-shape chassis was released
http://www.rccarmuseum.org/museum/files/lexan_c.html
two years later the Schumacher C-Car was released.

I think this was the first 1/12 car with independent front suspension

The AE 12is was...uh...a short lived experiment. The standard 12i suspension was way better.
FYI...The Schumacher C front suspesnion still lives. It was the basis for Corally's front suspension system.

But the Associated 12i didnīt have real suspension just some slotted chassis. The 12iS with real suspension was released after the C-car.
And yes I had Schumacher XL and C-Car, 12i and iS, AYK RX2000 before that some scratchbuild 1/12 cars afterwards ..... Long ago.
BTW the Schumacher XL and other Lexan cars were made for low grip indoor tracks primarely not for carpet.
Back to todays 1/12 cars.
Any pictures?
