Most high end cars only accept side by side ( |||||| ) packs as they sit lower in the chassis. Also most stick packs (===) are not comprised of matched cells. Whether to change or not really depends on what car they are for, if you're racing or bashing, and what you expect to gain. If you decide to do it, discharge the pack down to 5.4 volts and use a HOT iron so as not to damage the cells by exposing them to extreme heat (which happens when you leave the iron on the cell end too long when using a sub par iron). When rebuilding be sure to use a deans jig or the like to ensure the cells are properly alligned and to make it easy on yourself. If the packs you have fit I would leave them the way they are and just set aside some $$ to upgrade to a few decent used matched side by side packs rather than fuss with all that rebuilding. thats me and my 2 though.

I would explain it but its been explained so much before so much better than I could. You ought to do a search for bearing cleaning. The search tool works wonders!!
