Hi all,

A couple of months ago i bought a Top Scythe.
I wanted a cheaper car than the Xray. (To save some money on the parts).
Last year the Top Scythe became dutch champion in the stock and after looking arround and inform about how good the car was, i just risked it and bought one.
In the beginning i was happy with the car. I had the basic setup on the car.
I drove indoors almost al my races with it and with some good resulds.
So i was positive about the car. In that thime the car was almost the same as my Xray T2,007. I didn't feel that i was faster and the times were the same and still i was happy with the car. After some changes in the setup and i lost also the problem that the car rolled ofer in the corners (verry happy with that) It delivered me some places to the frond of the field.
A couple of weeks ago i went outsite on our track and the car went ok but my Xray feld better.
I started to look for some difrend setups and combined them.
This improved the handling of the car a bit.
Still i wnated to race the first race with my xray because this one went better.
Last sunday the race was canceld and so i tested my Top again. This time with an setup that i had in my head and the car became somting where i only coud dream of. The car went great. The corners that i made were closer to the inner side and still my car had more spead withouth losing the back of the car.
After some crashes i hath no origenal steerin block so i put the xrays on it.
This made the car even faster trough the corners.
Yesterday i raced again with also the C hubs of the xray on it.
Evrey boddy was in the beginning sceptical about the car. aspecialy when i didn't had the allu parts on it.
After yesterday everey boddy was watching and verry suprised about the car.
Eaven i was suprised and my Xray moved from nr 1 to nr 2 with my Hotbodies Cycloone moore speed.
This car is so gread. i'm faster with it now than i was with al of my other cars.
I love it and maby i wil sel my other cars and buy one extra Top Scythe.

I found al lot of information of the car here on this topic and i want to thank you all. Thanks to all of your comment and information i made the choice for the Top and i coud make it drive better than before.

I will try to pu my settup on the internet as soon as possible.
It is a ferry basic setup but it runs great on the track of ERCE in Eindhoven.

Sorrie for my terreble english. I'm not that good in writhing in English!!

Greatings Emiel Pijnenburg

this year i will do my best to race atthe national championchips in the top 15.
It will be hard because i'm not the best driver.
Lukkely i get some help of Hangloose racing products in the Netherlands.

Great to hear another happy Scythe racer

I have been running 3 cars and am loving them too.
I need to post my setup for the mod car so i could get some advice from the guys.
Mod was the only car that i needed help on at the nats this last weekend.
Just had a lot of onpower understeer even after changing to 6 deg caster blocks.
will post setup later today.

Open stock Johnson class i qualified 3rd which was a big surprise.
Super stock 27T i qualified 6th in Bmains which was acceptable although i was down on motor power.
Mod i qualified 5th in Cmains but am sure i had good pace for a high Bmains as my best run i had the pinion come loose.
As for Final results we are waiting for them as there was pc issues during the finals.
Only result i do know is that in both Mod runs i 2nd.

After 1 race day I was pleased with the car... I need towork on it more....

One thing that I'm not pleased with.. The front end where the hub and arm go together, ( HPI that came with the kit ) by the end of the day ( asphalt surface ) the C-hub was moving back and forth in the arm.... I'm going to shim it out to get it a little snug... The rear is loose as well but not to the extreme the front is. On the straight ( 100 foot straight ) it would start to wander around....

But this can be fixed so I'm looking forward to running again next weekend!!!!

Here is my setup sheet as mentioned before.
The car worked well with only issue being understeer on power hence why i changed to 6 deg caster blocks which helped a bit but didnt solve the hassle.
Would appreciate feedback and recommendations.

I'd start with more droop in the front.

That is one thing i am needing to do.
Notice that the shock length is limiting how much droop i have so need to either fit longer ball cups on the shafts or take out the spacer inside the shock.

Did that already and moved to the bottom inner holes.

Are you guys building the shock with the triangular spacer below the piston ???

Razzor,

No i dont build it with the triagular spacer, but i cut the wings off them and just use the center as a shaft guide which helps.

With the spacers in i could never get ride height with foams.

Also, some brands of spring retainers are a few mm lower which may help, i've got HPI retainers and they work well, apparently Rayspeed work too.

Hope that helps

Cheers

I shortened the triangular spacer a litle bit.
And i putted HPI parts on it to fit the xray springs.
I also changed the C hubs for the xrays and the steering blocks are also xray.

I have an other problem. (my diff)
Sunday we hath a race and the day before i trained. Everything went on the saterday perfect.
Speed and handling where super.
Sunday i had to change my car after the first qualify heat.
My diff brocke. I changed to my Hotbodies but that one went without a desent setup terreble and i qualified 10th.
In the finals my 1way brocke down so i became 10th.

last monday i rebuild my diff. after 5 heads training my diff was coming loos.
Does anny one els have the same problem?
I think i will put some locke tite on it.
I hope that will work.

Also i'm going to change my ally dif to make it fit the bigger dif screws.
I hope these will not braecke.

My lap times where withe my hotbodies a second slower than with my TOP.
The strangest thing is, is that i can drive the TOP with every setup i want and it's still going fast.
I have also a bit ondersteer.
I'm trying to solve it by puting 1 or 2 mm spacers on the C hubs.
The xray C hubs ar a bit lower.
I have also changed from 3 toe in to 2,5 toe in.
not jet driven it but i hath verry good grip in the back. maby to much.
Saterday i'm going to test it.

I use 2 degrees C hubs. gifs more steer.
caber arround 1,5 and in the frond 1 toe out.
And 2mm spacer on the uprights in the back.

Moving the servo forward will transfer more weight towards the front. From my experience more "nose" heavy cars will push on low bite asphalt (also harder on front tires), but on high bite surfaces like carpet it helps to stop traction rolling.

However, if the weight is biased towards the rear then the car can get loose mid corner.

This is just my experience.

Post your setup and maybe we can help get it better.
