How to gain on power steering?
Hey people, I raced for the first time last saturday. I did some minor tuning but I need to gain on power steering. I'm running on a cleaned parkinglot with a C4 agle, orange corally springs on the front and white's on the rear, not sure on the shock oil, a little toe-out in the front and maybe 1 to 1.5 degree toe in the rear with zero caster in the front. The rear is planted with perfect tire wear and the front needs a little more camber for next weeks race according to tire wear(which means I'll loose even more steering). I'm running in stock, don't brake(or let it go to neutral) and and drive smoothly(well as smooth as I can).
What should I do suspension wise to gain on power steering without killing tires(i.e. not zero front camber)?
P.s. (steering is at full throw) and please don't say go ask in the corally forum, no one runs the C4 there anymore and they won't be able to help me.

I would take some droop out of the front...but that's just me.

fatdoggy;
Try these one at a time:
Less Front Droop (already said)
Raise the Rear outer Camber link position (Roll center)
Stand the Rear Shocks up straighter.
Tighter Rear diff adjustment.
hope these give you new ideas

Too much weight is being transferred to the rear when you hit the throttle exiting a turn. You may try to:
- stiffen the rear springs
- use thicker oil in rear shock
- use the outer holes on your rear shock mount
- put a swaybar in the rear or stiffen the one you have (if you're already using one)
- reduce negative camber in the rear
- increase front caster
- increase antisquat
- increase kickup
- lower front ride height
- raise rear ride height
- decrease roll center by lowering the inside pivot of your rear upper links
- decrease rear toe
- reduce front droop
- shorten wheelbase

Wow awsome guys.
Thanks, that's a big help.

Okay, I havent tried this, but what about moving a little weight forward?
One-way diffs improve on-power steering dramatically. But they require good grip.

I only have a mid one-way (set loose), on power it acts just like a normal mid setup, off power is where the advantage is with a mid one-way. You can't get a front one-way for the C4 so... . If all else fails I'll try some lead weight on the front.
Thanks.
Thanks.

adding static weight to the front of the car may induce more of a push, because the front of the car will have more momentum going into the corner and when you get back on the power thats just more wieght that will transfer to the rear. i would say your best bet is to limit front droop and/or lower front roll center.

Hmm..... lol ok maybe not. The C4 is a pivot bal car and I don't think you can change roll center, I was also running zero droop, locked down front and rear diff and my shocks were as straight as possible.
I'll try, less rear toe, front caster, ride high changes(higher rear), harder rear springs and smaller shock piston one at a time like popsracer suggested.
Can't wait for the weekend and spring break racing....

The C4.1 one way should fit the AGLE it's design didn't change between cars

spaz - No sweat thanks for the input.
AGLE - Holly crap your right thanks mate, I'll be saving.

fatdoggy,
if you like your car's balance durring constant speed turns, i wouldn't fuss with the spring/oil combo too much. castor can make a car's turning characteristics change drastically. zero castor is likely the reason for the push on power. that is the first thing i'd change. especially since it's such a snap with the c4. can that car get to 0* castor? i thought my c4.1 wouldn't quite get vertical. anyway, do that until you feel the car get better. a one way will also help a ton, and i believe hpi makes a "super front oneway" that is a direct fit and lasts longer than the corally. that's what i was told, at least.
also, if you rear is planted, you might look first to decrease toe there, as your car will pick up speed everywhere due to decreased scrubbing. you can usually get away with less toe if you are running on foams as well.
good luck. you'll get it.
- it's too bad that you can't get help on an older design. i've seen that on the schuie thread too.

I'm running a HPI Pro2 with the Super Front One Way. So if you need some sizes, I can measure it for you.
What about kick up and anti squat, can that be altered on your car? I haven't tried those things, but from what I've read, it should help also.
Rear toe? Hmmm, when I tried going from 2 degree to 1, I didnt notice any better on-power steering. But it might just be me... But I gave a little extra speed and better steering into corners...
