Is it possible for the stock composite chassis to become 'tweaked' over time? If I set the the chassis on a flat surface without wheels on, it doesn't look to be twisted. I should strip the car and check again.

The motor heat does tend to pull up the right rear corner of the TC3, especially in warmer climates. To prevent this remove the motor from its mount after every heat. This tweak is evident when you check the chassis on a tweak station. The right rear or left front shock collar will be lower after adjustment. Also, when you check the chassis for flatness like you suggest the right rear corner will be elevated.


The new TC4 motor mount should cure this problem on the newer cars.

I think you could make the TC4 motor mount fit, but you would have to do considerable Dremmel work and drilling. I would get the TC4 chassis. I converted my whole car to TC4 for about $85. See the TC3 thread search for TC3 to TC4 conversion for part numbers.

This new motor mount and its long brace is very similar to the one I constructed and showed to Barry Baker after he raced in Houston.

Here is a post where I made a motor mount strap for the TC3 to solve the tweak issue. I did it all with a Dremmel. This is much cheaper.

the metal part I made is sitting on the back of the chassis in the photo that is attached to that post. Earlier I described a motor mount gusset that keeps the motor from sagging.

Mine was when I sold it for parts, I just threw it away it was so bad. I found that right where the motor mounts is where it happens. Youll notice right before the hole under the motor closest to mount it will have a rounded bulge coming out on the bottom.

Motor sags when hot I guess and pulls the chassis?

That mod looks awesome, nice work !

I stripped my car and on a piece of glass the RR of the chassis is up by about 1mm. Not much but probably enough to throw the tweak off.

When you cut the slot with the Dremmel the chassis lays down back flat again.
