Default which motor mount/battery holder?

I'm designing a new chassis for my x-ray t1 fk05 with a modern weight distribution layout. I'll be mounting the motor more inboard so the motor mount needs to fit below the front belt/pulley. Ideally a sort of straight bar design for the mount - nice and simple. What's going to be the best/cheapest option?

Also I'd like to incorporate some modern adjustable battery holders which DON'T require tape, what's out there?

Thanks

Best and cheapest option? Hmm get the newer X-ray T4 platform with the new xray being out you should be able to find last years model pretty reasonable price.

That's kind of missing the point, I'd rather do some DIY engineering and really understand what's right/wrong with a platform than just mindlessly buy the latest model, even though that's a lot easier!

On the subject of the t4, the motor mount is 'almost' what I am looking for, but want one without the layshaft holder bit.

I'm after something like this but without the layshaft holder, which can bolt directly to the chassis plate:

Anyone know anything which fits the bill? Or will I have to get it custom made?

You could just get one and cut the layshaft holder off

Sure. I'm more concerned about accurately drilling the extra screw hole at the rear of the mount to attach it to the chassis (or is there one there already??)

No, this one has only one hole in the very front and two more back in the layshaft holder part. You can see it in the T4'17 manual.

that's a shame, do you know of any cars which have a motor mount like this but with screw holes at both ends?

Try looking at a pan car motor mount.

Update: just won a t4 motor mount on eBay, I will find some way of designing it in.

Next up, I'm looking for battery holders. What's the best bet? Xray? Are the yeah racing ones any good?
