Default B6 doesn't turn tight enough

I'm running the stock steering setup on my b6 which I race on turf. It doesn't take 180s tight enough & it's killing my times. I added the Schelle +1 steering plates and they helped a bit.

What adjustments can I make to improve the steering issue. I'm thinking of removing the 2mm spacers from the steering rack. But any other suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance

I am. The car feels like it has more snap, but steering is the same.

Brass bulkhead at 25°

Front shocks: Orange spring, 37.5wt, 1.6 piston, stroke 20mm.

Weights: aluminum servo weight. Aluminium weight under electronics.

Car weighs about 1510

I Just read an article on Ackerman. Maybe that's it?

Nothing in your setup seems off enough to cause huge issues with steering. Is this
only a problem with your car or is everyone lacking steering? Are you all on the
same front tires ? And lastly if its just your car did this problem develop over time
or has your car always lacked steering?

Most of the other cars don't have this issue from what I can see. The tires used very greatly; proline, jconcepts, Schumacher, sweeps etc.

I've seen some setups where the us no ball stud spacers on the steering rack. I gave 2mm spacers. I'm thinking now that could be it. Perhaps removing or reducing them may result in tighter steering. Just wondering if that's how Ackerman is adjusted on a b6

The vegas setup works great for carpet, not so much for turf. My mod car was
about 1.5 seconds a lap off pace at our turf track when I ran it in with my carpet
setup.

Running less akerman shims is going to make the steering more agressive but
I don't think it's what your looking for.

Personally I would look at three things before making any setup changes.

If you have any D/R or Expo set on the steering take that all back to 0.

Make sure you have full steering travel with the car at ride height.

Check the front shocks and measure the stroke again to make sure its at 21 or
20.5 or whatever you set it for. The shock bodies have a bad habit of getting dented
behind the springs at the lower section of the body. It hang up the piston in the bore
taking away front droop and making the car handle like poo.

If everthing checks out you might need some setup changes to maximize steering.
Personally I would run the two steel plates vs aluminum. Also I would change back
to the aluminum bulkhead instead of brass.
You can also run bulkhead shims and a more
aggresive spring package.

If you want to pm me I can send you my current 17.5. Astro setup that's really good.

I just started running the Associated shim set for the gear box and front end. I have to say the performance of the car has improved but the steeringis still off. Me servo throw is set to 95%. I tried 100% but didn't really make a difference other than making the servo sound weird at that throw.

I should mention I run the b5m shocks in the rear with the corresponding Schelle shock tower. Rear shocks are blue springs, 37.5wt, stroke is 26.5, imner camber link.

Sure, I'll give your setup a shot.

I'll PM you my email.
