I've liked protek LiHv 6100mah for more weight, or fantom low profile 3900mah when you want to spread the weight independently

What about the Protek LiHv 3600? Never run such a low mah battery. Is it really enough for a heat and no fade?

That I couldn't tell you for sure. I generally try to get as much mah as I can in a battery. Which is why I chose the 6100mah and the 3900mah because they are the largest capacity at the lightest weight I can find for those types if batteries. Gives me confidence I'll have no fade during even a long main. Though I'm sure the smaller packs could do a 6 minute main pretty easy if you top it off just before the race

I've run the recent offerings from protek, both the 3600 and 6100mah lihv batteries. The 3600 will easily do a 7 minute main on indoor clay with 22 second lap times (ocrc racewaay). I like the 6100 for the weight though. I've run Sun 1500 gram cars and had had the best handling and lap times from a 1550 ish car. My vote goes for the 6100mah batteries for the strong pull through qualifying and weight.

I just bought a protek 3600. I ran it for 25 min at ocrc on Friday, so a 7-10 min main will be no problem. Only trouble is that it's light weight if your buggy is close to min weight.

The battery is also very thin, so on my 22 4.0 I had to put foam between battery and battery strap to hold it down.

Isn't 6100 mah way more than you'd need in stock? Running 4900 in my mod car? If it's for the weight understood. I've read some of European factory team guys were running 3600 mah lcg batteries with brass underneath to keep the weight down low and evidently was enough for mod. Think 3900 mah Fantom which is actually about 3500 charged to 4.22 would be the way to go and add a 50g plate below if weight needed. Prefer protek to Fantom batteries but the Fantom lcg is 4000 mah vs protek 3600 so got the Fantom. I find my buggy pushes a bit more when using the heavy tall battery. My 2 cents

I just like having headroom. I dislike running my batteries to the limit so I generally go for the largest capacity I can get without going too heavy.

How do these latest offerings of protek lihv lipos compare to the SMC or turnigy graphene and ultimates 4600? These are what I have currently. Can I expect more punch when switching to the latest proteks?

Its not exactly related, by i do agree with Eddtide. I run my DESC410 SCT with 2 different batteries and swap each run: Nvision 5800mah 100c saddles & Orion 5800mah 100c Block. I don't run any lower then around 5000+mah because i feel i'll be running the batteries to their limit, especially in a large SCT. I would stick with higher milliamp batteries and try and manage weight by using LiHv to reduce weight or adding weights to increase it.

I don't run any Stock buggies but i would assume getting as much punch as possible in as little weight as possible is the goal.

just my 0.02 cents

I have two of those Fantom 3900mah thin shorty. IRs are not impressive. My SMC 4000mah shorty (i have 4) after a year of racing is still putting up 1.8IRs ...even puffed . But it fades after 6 minutes... good for 5 minute qualifiers. The Protek LIHV are very good. I have the thin shorty.... doesn't fade after a 7 minute main...charged at 4.35A. I like running the regular shorty than the thin one in a carpet track. The added weight just makes the buggy easier to drive in high speed corners.
