If you are comfortable with the XX-4, then that is what I suggest you run again. The price is really affordable and you can get the parts almost "anywhere" USA.
The X-5 car is a hybrid losi XX-4 and XXX-4 mated together, so that is also a good way to go. The car will feel like your XX-4 but have the advantage of the XXX-4 single belt drive. It also is the current ROAR national champion piloted by Greg Hodapp, one of the best drivers in the world.

Take a look at wht the local guys are running nd what the LHS's have parts for. Nothing worse than breaking something and not being able to ge the parts for a couple of weeks because you have to do mail order.
I personally have a XXX4 and love it. The pivot block seem to be the only thing's that I'm really breaking.

I run the x-5 and the xx-4 both great cars and easy to get parts for. The bj4we would be awsome but a price tag of 450 and it being next to impossible to get unless you were on the preorder list last year makes it less of a possibility. But it still is a heckofa car

I wouldn't count out the ZX5 ,it is really making tracks , Our local indoor track now has like 5 of them and they seem to easily get to the A every week . I will say they need only 2 hop up parts ,the front hinge pin brace from Glowplug and the Shooter's shock tower brace ,all the parts are inexpensive to replace ,and the car flat out handles incredible ! It will out turn a BJ4 or Losi all day long ,especially in the rough . One big thing we have noticed is that the ZX5 is unbelivable on tires , you can go weeks where the others will only go a day . Kyosho did there home work ,but left out a few pages that the dog ate LOL , I think they will definately be a top contender soon enough .

At first I got SB from MRC/Academy but due durability and parts availabilty issues I switched to Kyosho Lazer ZX-5. The latter handles better and I finished 3rd in the B-Main on the local track's big event.

I have XXX-4 g+. It's also pretty good. My only problem is that the pivot mount in the hinge pins easily break and also the shock towers in my experience. The ZX-5 is also good. I'm even planning to buy one later. If ZX-5 is available there, then buy one.

There is a nice line-up of 4wd buggies out there. Seeing real growth in the class.
honestly any of the vehicles can do well, I would say if you have the chance, try seeing if anyone will let you wheel there vehicle for a bit to see what you like. You may find you like a shaft drive or you want to go to the X-5, or whatever.
I ran the Academy SB (waiting on the V2) and other than a few mods that are pretty simple to do, the vehicle ran really well and was very durable. The V2 should be even better as long as they work out the issues that were identified overseas. When it finally comes out, I will give it a shake down.
Right now, I say that the hot buggy price to performance appears to be the Kyosho ZX5. for around $300 shipped , you get a competition level buggy that includes a oneway system as well. Other that needed an alloy front hingepin brace, the vehicle appears to be fairly solid for a 4wd buggy.

Nope. Still same word, early spring 2006.
In a way I am glad, because there are issues with the V2 (see the RC10b4.com forum on the Academy V2) that have to be corrected. The buggy has ALOT of potential, but if the issues aren't corrected and make there way to the USA, it will doom the buggy.
