Default Ripped a hole in my tire. Any fixing??

So I tore a hole in the side of one of my sc tires. It's not just a tare there's a hole about 1/8 in diameter just past the edge of the tread on the sidewall. I can visibly see the insert. Has anyone ever fixed something like this? Or is the tire just junk? I thought about filling it with glue but though that might throw it way off balance. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

If ypu are missing a large chunk of the tire it might be done but if it is just a rip or tear you should be able to just glue it back together with tire glue. I have fixed many of mine this way

Are you sure you tore a hole in it? It sounds more like a tire vent hole which is normal.

just tagging along on this, as stated vent holes are seen from various manufacturers at various locations. Post a pic, i have mended tires before with good cleaning (simple green) and cutring a small piece to insert, glue and trim, from another tire carcass.

It is not a vent hole. I have a tire punch I use to vent my tires. This not one of thouse holes. I will try to post a picture up this afternoon after I get out of work.

i think you can salvage that, with some good Tire glue, a piece of old tire, then a dremel to clean it up. Year ago we would cut tires in half take a bit out the middle, and reglue! BK is the king of tire mods.

I'll I will say is that we've cut tires in half, trimmed them, glued the halves back together, raced, and won. A local pro showed me how it was done 5 or 6 years ago. You could probably rubber band that tire really tight and glue it.

big thing is make sure you have good glue. some glue's dont' do a good job of holding together tears but do okay for the actual tire to the rim.

i typically use AKA tire glue. seems to work well for holding tires on the wheels. i got them glued up with a fill in piece of rubber from an old tire. depending on track conditions this weekend well see if i get a chance to try them out.
