I did have one issue you guys should check into. I am not sure if its a one time thing or gonna be a problem. When I built the one if the diffs I noticed it started leaking. instantly. When I looked at it on the back side of the diff housing you can see 3 injection molding marks, one of them was an actual hole. I cleaned it up and sealed it up with some CA glue as it only needs to last until the plastic diff gears come in. I had a very small tight spot as someone posted about above but in mine it didn't seem like enough to be concerned about so I shimmed as per instructions.

Other than that I had no issues with the build at all.
Yep, exactly the same issue with one of my diff housings. I contacted the hobby store I purchased the kit from and after a call to the AE guys it appears that its a known problem that has affected about 2% of the kits. Although I am having serious binding issues with the shim set up as per the manual.. tried a couple of shim combinations but not much better, hopefully it will wear in after a couple of runs..

My build went great and it was a pleasure building it. Great job AE! I ended up doing 7/1 on the diff shims. No binding, bought a reedy 6.0 from my lhs geared it at a 19/81. All in all I think the kit took me 9 hours spread out over 2 evenings including doing a one color body, some stickers mounting a set of front tires and the electronics just need to charge my battery, set ride height and check camber and toe and it is ready.

First race last night. Outdoors on clay in mod. The car was immediately alot better than the B44.3. So much more stable and carries alot of corner speed. No issues. Very happy.

Anyone run the D on carpet or turf yet? Curious to hear your setup changes compared to the kit setup sheet.

I'll be racing on turf, thinking about orange front springs / blue rear springs, blue front sway, lower ride height to 18mm to start. Might expirement with the short / long rear chassis braces, and heavier center diff fluid too.

Velcro is your friend, then body posts are not so durable.

90% finished. My kit was missing all the diff shims. Fortunately I had a bunch from my b5m-yz2 conversion.

Ran a couple packs through the car tonight. I went with the kit set-up except for 7K front and 5K rear diff fluids because its more in range with what others are using in gear diffs at my home track. Might go put in a couple more packs tomorrow too. Car felt amazing. I am thinking about dropping the rear shock oil down to 27.5 and see if that helps a little bit of bouncing I am getting in a bumpy high speed sweeper.

Diff fix has been holding up great so far. Got some new ones on the way I am gonna build with the plastic gears.

Weighed the car with a shorty servo and a Hobbywing XR10 Pro stock and a 24K motor and the car was 1594 grams.

1594? Do you mean 1694? I weighed mine today at the track and I'm at a lucky 1777 lol. Xeron pro 160 amp, full size servo and a shorty that weights 224 grams I believe.

I can tell you this, compaired to the 22-4, Kyosho ZX-6.6, the AE still does not land as well as those cars. It is vastly improved, and I like the car a lot. But at my rutted out high bit track, it still is not up there with the TLR, or K car. I've got some ideas floating around in my head to try and fix it, but i'd say, night and day difference over the previous car, but still not as good as TLR or Kyosho. Turning is fine and on par with other cars, and all around as stable as the other platforms. The big factor for me was the beefing up of the car, the B44.3 was not a bad drive, it was just weak, this has all of the characteristics that made the B44.3 such a fast wheeler out of the box, but much more robust.

SMC motor esc combo is a reliable set up. 6.5t-10.5t whatever suits your track size/style.
