I've been used to running membrane style shocks in 4wd, 1/8 and onroad racing and so haven't much experience with emulsion style shocks. As I was in a hurry to get my 2wd SRX2-MH on track I used the shocks from the SRX4 just to get the initial runs done.

Anyway I've built a new set of pro shocks in emulsion style and I'm having a bit of an issue bleeding them. So with the shock oil air free and the body completely full I put the shock cap on and slowly push the shaft all the way in until the ball joint is touching the lower cap. I then put the bleed hole screw and oring in the cap.

The shock is smooth and relatively air free and doesn't hydraulic at the top of the stroke ie I can push the shaft all the way until the ball joint is touching the lower cap. However when I pull the shaft fully out and let go the shaft slowly goes back up into the body almost fully. Is this normal? If I re-bleed the shock and don't push the shaft all the way in before putting the bleed screw in the shock hydraulics.

Fill shock to top with oil
Add a couple drops to cap
Screw cap onto shock letting oil bleed out
I like to put spring cup on then push shock all the way up letting it bleed air/oil out
Screw bleeder screw in
Pump shock a couple times
Unscrew bleeder screw while shock is fully compressed to bleed again
Screw bleeder screw in
Done
Should have about 2mm of rebound when compressed. It will suck in when extended.

Thanks. That was my major concern that the shock shaft sucks all the way back in when extended. So that's normal on an emulsion shock? It was driving me nuts

No problem. If you are on FB, join the Serpent MH group there. It's way more active.

Kinda surprised that his thread is not getting much action. Much rather be on this thread than having to us FB to get info.

Had my first run with the Srx2 last week. Was extremely pleased with the car in 3 gear standup out of the box. Interested to see some discussion about low grip conditions. And some discussion about the different options available.

From what my buddy runs his MH is not bad on looser tracks but when he runs the stand up transmission setup the car is better under the same loose conditions. I don't think I will be running my buggy outdoors at all as I think I will just run the Serpent SC i bought and keep the buggy for indoors. I hope to practice some at my home indoor by next weekend see how it feels vs my D216 that was working pretty good for me overall.

My new to MH showed up this week and wow does it look like its barely been run at all. No hurry to get electronics in it since I probably won't be running for awhile but will go over it and get a new body painted up for it. Came with a ton of parts so that will give me something to do as I need to put the parts away and get everything organized.
