Default Buggy Spring Set

I see a lot of inconsistent spring rate charts. Figure buying a full set of the same brand is best. With 3 buggies, Kyosho is just too expensive.

What is everyone's opinion on best spring sets to buy and please describe quality and value. If kyosho is just that good, please explain why. thx

I think AE 12mm springs are good quality and price.

If you had a spring rate testing tool you'd feel differently. I, myself, will use the regular AE springs but I'll acknowledge that they are just ok....borderline....good enough. The new truck springs are of a higher quality. All that being said, the tolerances, rates, and quality of Kyosho springs are magnificent. They tend to run stiffer. I've never had a set of Kyosho springs not match....I've had AE springs test very inconsistently. As far as the rates are concerned I don't completely trust the AE rates either. Once I had a set of green rears that were stiffer than a set of whites. If my car feels crappy springs are not my go to thing to look into. A lot of the time I use my AE springs because I'm too lazy to figure out which Kyoshos I'd need....although gold seems to be the magic spring for everything.

I drive TLR 22 3.0 and 22sct 2.0. On both, I've come to settle on the Kyosho springs. I tried some of the TLR springs, including the kit springs, and they're okay. (If you look at the TLR team setups though, many of them are running AE or Kyosho springs.) The Kyosho just stay more consistent and in over a year of use, I haven't really detected any changing of the rates. That's not scientific, but they just always feel the same whereas the kit springs settled noticeably after a while.

For clay and carpet, I've found that having the white and gold rates on hand is sufficient for me. For the SCT, I do run yellow up front, but most setups on the 22sct favor a very stiff front end. On the rear, as well as both ends on my buggy, I start with white on clay and gold on carpet, then tune from there. I've ended up switching to gold on clay on either front or rear depending on the conditions and feel.

Oh, apparently the Yokomo springs are made by the same people that make Kyoshos. I have a set of their Yatabe Arena springs and although the color of the coating is slightly different from Kyosho, the quality looks the same. Ironically, I don't run the Yatabe springs on carpet as they are too hard for my liking. The Kyosho golds are just right for me.

okay so in short on the kyosho spring front, what springs are recommended for:

- indoor 2wd buggy carpet
- outdoor 2wd buggy dirt

If it helps, assuming RC10B6 and RC10B6D as platform?

If there is a set of goto spring rates that are consistent, then the initial cost may be worth it.

Go-to for my 22 3.0 on carpet is gold, indoor clay is white. I can't speak to the B6 specifically, or to any outdoor track conditions.

I'd suggest asking in the B6 thread.

If your asking is this an accurate list of ADVERTISED spring rates I would say
yes. If your asking how much control manufactures have over the end product
from there suppliers, that's really impossible to tell. I can tell you 3 things.

The core springs i have come out pretty close to there advertised rates.

The Kyosho Xgear springs like the chart indicates are almost always softer than
there advertised rates.

And last, where on the scale pad and the exact amount of down travel you
exert on the spring makes a huge difference in the rates you will come up with.
