Well the all the testing I have done in comparing the 2, a 550 2 pole actually puts LESS stress on the rest of the power system. From ESC temps, mAh being used and battery temps. Granted ALL my test were done INDOOR on HIGH GRIP CARPET track. While a 2 pole isnt ideal for most, its what works well for me. My testing yielded the results that a 4 pole motor generates MORE heat in the battery and ESC while using diving deeper into the overall mAh of the pack as well.

4 pole have more torque and will pull more amps as a result. Yes this will strain your system more. 550 2 pole will actually have better top end and good for larger tracks.

So you talked about amp draw but what about lap times?
Also Tekin new 255 software allow you to control torque much better and I love the feel of the new software with the stronger 4 pole motors.

I don't know about this year, buy I'm fairly certain Maifield ran 2 pole last year at E-Nats.

I don't believe Orion has a 540 4 pole option with 5mm shaft like the Tekin Pro-4 motors. Most Orion guys I know are still running 550 2 pole motors.

What I want to know is the actual torque values of a 2 pole 550 against a 4 pole 540.
I am not all that convinced that there will be much difference with reasonable punch settings. People can say what they want about power band, but the only thing that ever really matters is how much you lay to the ground. That being said, is there all that much difference in power vs the two?

Reliable dyno data is tough to get. I totally agree it is all about putting power to the ground. 550 2 pole will get it done. In certain conditions can even be better. Both can get you the winners circle. I like the lighter weight more than the extra torque.

Tekin and Orion both make great 550 2 pole motors.

Does anyone have a parts list to do the conversion? I have a practically NIB 2.0 that I built. Would prefer to not sell the truck!

On this topic, if you've got a 2.0 that already has the 22 shock conversion, -3MM chassis, dogbone center driveshafts, aluminum caster blocks and you don't plan to run the motor in the angled configuration, what's the difference besides the new front A-Arms?

I understand the 3.0 chassis is wider - how does that affect the performance of the car when not angling the motor?

Wider chassis not much if any. The chassis braces will be a change over the 2.0 rods though.

The 3.0 chassis can allow for the angle changes on the center driveline and the battery configuration in front and back which is sort of an outdoor versus indoor thing. The chassis got wider due to the 550 motors being angled off the side cannot go outside of the chassis so we made room for those and thus we altered both sides equally and the chassis got wider much like the 8ight E 4.0 did.

Can 2.0 upgrade for 3.0 chassis?

Yes the front and rear clips will bolt onto the 3.0 chassis. You will need the insert for the diff mounting angle and should get the front and rear chassis braces

Thank You Sir. I like more this SCT than my tekno. It's been only a month for me this kit and getting hook up faster than my previous laps.
