I just checked in on this. We are looking at 9/8 or 9/9 as of now.

How are the front arms different from the 2.0 arms? Is the geometry the same?

So I went through the 2.0 and 3.0 manual and found all the parts that are different. I then googled every part and was able to find prices. Here's an idea of what is different and cost...I'm sure it's not 100% correct but should be close.

You can probably find the parts a little cheaper (like ebay, I've seen the shock conversion for $99). This doesn't include coupons like A-main has also. I don't really see it cost effective to upgrade, especially if your 2.0 is bone stock. If you have the shocks and some other parts maybe it would be. To go from a stock 2.0 to 3.0 I figured $390 and you aren't getting a new body, all new bearings, etc. Even when I cut out the stuff I don't care about like the pinion bearing spacers/wheel hexes/steering rack it might not be worth it for me. I might just get the new chassis. Anyway here's the list I came up with.

TLR234066 Steering rack set w/bearing short/long $16.99
TLR231053 Chassis braces $9.95
TLR231050 Chassis $89.95
TLR232053 Pinion bearing spacers $5.99
LOSB3495 Wheel hex set with pins $7.99
TLR234068 Front spindle carrier set $8.99
TLR234069 Front arm set $13.99
TLR334025 Front/Rear Thick Sway Bar Set $13.75
TLR234067 Rod end set $7.99
TLR332015 Center Dogbone Driveline Set $29.99
TLR233022 Shock Piston 12mm, 1.0x5 (4) $14.99
TLR233023 Shock Piston 12mm, 1.1x5 (4) $14.99
TLR233021 22 3.0 +4 and standard spring cup set $9.99
TLR334029 Shock conversion set scte to 22 $116.99
TLR233020 Front spring set, hard (3 pr) $15.99
TLR231054 Battery mount set $11.99

These are different from 2.0 to 3.0 but I am not sure if really needed to upgrade to 3.0:
LOSA6283 4-40x5/8" Flat Head Screw $4.99
LOSA6248 4-40 Set Screw Assortment $4.99
TLR5962 3x10mm Flat Head Screws $4.99
LOSA6045 HD steering link set $5.99
LOSA6278 5-40x1/2” Button Head Screws $5.99
LOSA6271 5-40x1/2” Flat Head Screws $3.99
TLR234071 Steering bell crank set $7.99 SAME AS 2.0???????
LOSA6251 5-40X3/16" Set Screw Discontinued

Parts different from 2.0 but not needed to convert to 3.0 (because they come with other 3.0 parts):
TLR231052 Battery/chassis foam. (Come with 3.0 chassis)
TLR231051 Center diff plate. (Come with 3.0 chassis)
TLR334030 Rear shock tower. (Come with shock conversion set)
TLR5169 Rear Shock Spring Set (2.6 Rate/Red) (Shock conversion kit comes with Orange 2.9 rate springs, SCTE 3.0 comes with 2.6 rate springs) $5.99
Note: SCTE to 22 shock conversion kit comes with 1 pair of "+4mm" spring cups, TLR233021 is not needed if you are ok with not running "+4mm" spring cups on the back.

Pretty sure they allow for more clearance of the wheels, therefore more steering.

If you remember Dunfords old notes to dremal wear marks on the arm when using the 15 deg +2 caster blocks? New arms solve that issue.

I have the 2.0 arms and the aluminum 15+2 carriers and I don't see any rubbing on the arms. Do you think it's because i'm running the long ackerman and if I was running the short there would be?

The 3.0 arms have wheel clearance for the 15* caster blocks, and they also have one hole further out on the arm for the shock mounting for higher grip tracks.

Depends on wheels a little, some flex more than others. The wheels will barely clear in normal on the bench and depending on arm travel and wheel loads they can rub slightly New arms fix all this so you don't have to worry anymore.

New shock hole like frank mentioned is good for really high bite tracks where you may want to lay down the shocks more. For the 3.0 the new middle hole is the old outside hole for converting your current setup.
