Shock building, alternative method.

Fill the oil up to the first thread.
Extend the shock shaft so the eyelet bottomed out on the shock bottom.
Place the piston into the shock body but let gravity pull it down into the body.
Once the shock bottom reaches the shock body help align it into the body so that the treads line up.
Turn the shock bottom so that it starts to thread into the body.
Wait for 1 second to give the excess oil time to escape.
Continue to turn, wait, turn, wait process until the shock bottom is tight.
Pump the shock shaft a few times and then bottom out the eyelet to the bottom of the shock and release.
Hopefully you should not have any rebound or maybe just a little bit.
If you have more than you like, loosen the shock bottom, push the shock shaft down, wait for a little bit and then re-tighten the shock bottom.

Why not start with a used RB6? I'm sure lots will pop up with the new car out now.

The rollers have popped up. Find a suitable donor and you should be good.

I am taking my time with the build because I seem to have my hands full

I have a reasonable number of RB6 spares, was just trying to work out what else I needed.

Not sure on that or if this will help, but the db2 body fits the rz6 with no issues.

Yeah not super easy to find as I don't think you can buy as a package. Best bet is posting on some ZX6 forums to see who's brought a ZX6 recently and put gear diffs in their cars and want to get rid of their ball diffs.

Otherwise you need to buy all these parts (see attached)

So I decided to pull the trigger on one of these bad-boys. The price was hard to beat and I've always loved Kyosho quality. Going to be running on indoor clay (usually damp) low pin tires in super soft or clay compound and sometimes slicks. Any good starting set-up out there? I was thinking the Derek Wood Omaha set-up.

HUGE local race in 2 weeks, RZ6 will most likely be my stock car, I am feeling good about the switch from B5M FL so near our BIG race. Wish me luck!

Derek's setup would be a good place to start. Mine is posted on here too. Both he and I appear to have different driving style's though. At least you now have a starting point.
