Charts for Quick reference:

1) put inner bearing in hub
2) slide large shim over axle all the way up to the back of the axle
3) slide axle/bone into hub carrier
4) slide small shim onto axle through hub carrier
5) push outter bearing into hub carrier

using that i'm able to put my normal male silverback gorilla wheel nut tightening job and there's no binding. in the pictures that come with the shims (the pic socket posted) it seems like they want you to slide both shims onto the axle before sliding the axle into the hub carrier and like i said, that doesn't work.

I've traditionally done the diff screw head on the left side (driver's side), but have since switched to the Right side (passenger side) regardless of transmission type (3 gear RM vs 3 gear MM and 4 gear MM).

Kdub (Kurt Wenger, former AE designer) had this to say on the matter:

The right rear is the way the AE manuals state (or used to state). It really shouldn't matter since you go around turns both left and right.

I guess my point is, the B6 is much more of change compared to the B5M platform, then the B6D is to the B5M.

Seems like you if you drive primarily on Clay (Much of the SoCal circuit), which do you choose? Their little chart has Clay in the middle and shows them both "good" for clay...

Are you really gonna debate the tire in the attached photo as being Schumacher?

There is a 4 gear standup available for the B6D as an option; it's listed on the PDF spec sheet on AE website.

All the EOS pics feature the Schumacher tyres as they're handout at EOS...but I think 'box art' shots feature the new JConcepts tyres?

Be interested to try them when they come out, though currently nothing quite as good as the Schumacher tyres on Astro/Carpet IMO.

Interesting in that they went to that larger idler in the b6. I wonder how that will change up the internal ratios

Has no effect. Input shaft and Diff gear determine the ratio

Good timing, I was about to pick up a b5m for my first buggy. I'm curious what will be the popular option at my local clay track, sounds like both the b6 and b6d are claimed to work on clay.

The GRP front cut stagger tyre is much nicer to drive on then the Schuey tyre, has a much nicer turn in and general level of grip, the Schuey can be a bit vicious sometimes.

I plan to get the B6D and then pickup the laydown transmission parts for tuning. The parts dont cost much.
