the power that the 1/8 power plants have, I wouldn't worry too much about weight unless you are trying something really heavy for a pack. stick around 5000mah and your fine.

The laydown shorty setup looks interesting.

My goal initially was to make the car weigh the same as my nitro car, so that I could keep a more common setup between the two. I also run the T8i(smaller, lighter). My Nitro car and my Electric car weigh the same to .1 lbs(bathroom scale). I haven't put them on a legit scale just yet.

The added benefit of having the packs end to end is the lower CG.

I built my early converted car this way, and the factory thought enough of it to make the production car the same.

On paper, this is all great. Hard to say how much it matters in the real world, and even though I'm not slow, I'm prolly not fast enough to really take advantage of the lower CG.

Just looking at it, though, hard to deny that it appears more balanced in every direction, over a traditional setup.

I don't believe there is any risk with a 5300, and with our electric car, there is no effort as they are set up for this out of the box.

Is the cost worth the gain(90-120 bucks each for these batteries)? That is the question I can't answer.
