Cub86 posted the question: Hi. I'm struggling to understand the lay down situation. I run on high bite damp smooth clay and think the conversation would help on my surface but from what I'm reading I need to buy the lay down kit tlr338004. And the dirt gear case tlr332063. But do I really need both from what I've read the dirt case is 1-2mm higher anyway and u don't use the +3mm hubs or the front pivot hrc or Hrc mod. So is the dirt lay down kit tlr332063 is all that's needed to get me a lay down set up that's suited for clay With the components and car I already have. And if I only get the dirt case is there any problems that will need to be addressed IE.. bone plunge . I do know I'll need 1mm spacers on the waterfall to clear the battery. Thanks guys really trying to get my head around this.

Franks response:
Laydown Conversion will work great by itself. You run the aluminum +3mm hubs, the diff is +3.5mm, and you run the HRC front setup. Just follow a setup sheet from tlracing.com (Frank Root).

Dirt Tranny has the diff at the same height as the standard tranny case, and works with the standard plastic hubs. Both are +/- 0mm from stock. When you run this, no need to run the HRC front mod either.

I've found the stock laydown conversion parts to work great for most tracks. The dirt tranny is a great tuning option, but definitely not 'required'.

Something I made, pretty basic. Just to give people an idea.

No front bumper?

Electrical stores usually have that stuff. I know Fry's electronics carries it.

Frank/Casper,
Does TLR have any intention of doing a 2.5 degree (or similar) castor block for the 3.0?

I have owned a few different brands of TI screw kits and Lunsford is the best. Plus they already have a complete line of 22 3.0 Ti screws, turnbuckles, ball-studs, and more.

No idea but I don't work there. I would not think so.

Don't you know all the cool kids don't run front bumpers! Aerodynamics and weight! Lol Just waiting for LHS to get chassis protectors in.

Been out of RC for 6 months..Thinking about getting back and turning some laps with a 3.0.

Does the 3.0 use the 2.0 LF springs?

Frank - is the box set-up something you guys came up with from testing at OCRC? Its my local track so i'm thinking that would help if i started there

Jackie from OCRC has posted his setup and I can always give you mine as well. ITs not too far off stock with some minor changes. It does use LF springs.

The kit setup works really well at OCRC but the guys there have been tweaking on the setups some more as well.

Thanks for all the setup tips, I didn't get those pistons in yet and I have a set of those front springs on order but even with just the other adjustments I was pulling much better times yesterday than Wednesday, lots in the 17s and a 16.7. More steering makes a world of difference on a tight course!

I have a Christmas thing tonight but I'll be at the race on Saturday, the challenge as always will be to see if I can get a clean race in and beat my times from Tuesday's push machine in the footage

Going from 1.5 Pistons to 1.6 front and 1.7 rear what am I expecting from the car?

No plans. Between 5 and 10, we seem to be pretty well covered.

edit: Rctech won't let me post the link, but if you google "TLR 22 3.0 First Day on the Track" it's the first result -- maybe someone else could post it?
Looks great, keep up on practice, and it'll just get better and better.

Just got mine. Not off to a good start. This has probably been ask many time, but I'm new to this thread. Where do I find the servo spacer chart? Can't find it in the manual. I have an Airtronics servo. If somebody knows the correct spacer, I'd appreciate the info.

Sorry about that, and here you go. 3mm for Airtronics, although each servo may be slightly different. You really just want your servo long perpendicular to the chassis.
