Cub86 posted the question: Hi. I'm struggling to understand the lay down situation. I run on high bite damp smooth clay and think the conversation would help on my surface but from what I'm reading I need to buy the lay down kit tlr338004. And the dirt gear case tlr332063. But do I really need both from what I've read the dirt case is 1-2mm higher anyway and u don't use the +3mm hubs or the front pivot hrc or Hrc mod. So is the dirt lay down kit tlr332063 is all that's needed to get me a lay down set up that's suited for clay With the components and car I already have. And if I only get the dirt case is there any problems that will need to be addressed IE.. bone plunge . I do know I'll need 1mm spacers on the waterfall to clear the battery. Thanks guys really trying to get my head around this.

Franks response:
Laydown Conversion will work great by itself. You run the aluminum +3mm hubs, the diff is +3.5mm, and you run the HRC front setup. Just follow a setup sheet from tlracing.com (Frank Root).

Dirt Tranny has the diff at the same height as the standard tranny case, and works with the standard plastic hubs. Both are +/- 0mm from stock. When you run this, no need to run the HRC front mod either.

I've found the stock laydown conversion parts to work great for most tracks. The dirt tranny is a great tuning option, but definitely not 'required'.

Something I made, pretty basic. Just to give people an idea.

Local Trackside guy here, I think I talked to you about the D413 a few days ago! I just decided to tell JT too put me down for a 3.0 today too, he said that was the last one the shop ordered that wasn't spoken for yet. You know that car looked fast at the Horizon race, regardless of what's drawn on the wing

Frank is there any plan to release ball cups with the holes already molded in them?

After racing my 3.0 for the first time last weekend I can say without a doubt that no one will be disappointed with this car, the quality and assembly were faultless. It's a major credit to Frank and the rest of the Tlr crew who designed the car as it was a pleasure to drive and consistent lap after lap.
I built my car with titanium screws, turnbuckles, shock mounts and Tlr aluminum driveshafts in the end I needed to add weight to the car to get it to minimum weight as with a full size servo and esc the car comes in at 1510g race ready.
I also tested both the 3 and 4 gear transmissions on our local medium grip outdoor track and felt little to no difference in stock but times definitely were faster and more consistent with the 3 gear.

The East Coast orders shipped yesterday, they usually go ground, and with Thanksgiving tomorrow, by the weekend might be a stretch. Call you LHS to see if they have track info.

Frank - the 3.0 wheelbase is listed at 280mm. does that mean we have the option for 278-282 (since we have 2mm fr/back we can use in the hub)? Curious how you all ended up @280?

Can't wait til it arrives at my LHS next week!

I feel like a crack head waiting for the delivery of my 3.0 or even an email that its shipped...

I should prolly stop calling the sales team. I think I've talked to the whole team by now, lol.
