Cub86 posted the question: Hi. I'm struggling to understand the lay down situation. I run on high bite damp smooth clay and think the conversation would help on my surface but from what I'm reading I need to buy the lay down kit tlr338004. And the dirt gear case tlr332063. But do I really need both from what I've read the dirt case is 1-2mm higher anyway and u don't use the +3mm hubs or the front pivot hrc or Hrc mod. So is the dirt lay down kit tlr332063 is all that's needed to get me a lay down set up that's suited for clay With the components and car I already have. And if I only get the dirt case is there any problems that will need to be addressed IE.. bone plunge . I do know I'll need 1mm spacers on the waterfall to clear the battery. Thanks guys really trying to get my head around this.

Franks response:
Laydown Conversion will work great by itself. You run the aluminum +3mm hubs, the diff is +3.5mm, and you run the HRC front setup. Just follow a setup sheet from tlracing.com (Frank Root).

Dirt Tranny has the diff at the same height as the standard tranny case, and works with the standard plastic hubs. Both are +/- 0mm from stock. When you run this, no need to run the HRC front mod either.

I've found the stock laydown conversion parts to work great for most tracks. The dirt tranny is a great tuning option, but definitely not 'required'.

Something I made, pretty basic. Just to give people an idea.

The body covers it. But if you really need one there was a guy selling 3d printed ones. You'll have to search back in this thread to find the details.

I got my spur covers from shapeways.com. They come in black or white I believe. I have put them through one full race night with no problems at all. It looks like they also do the jconcepts b6 covers.

Has anyone done a comparison between the losi RTR gear diff and the new all metal gear diff for a 17.5 stock buggy on a high bite track. It seems to me that the new metal diff could weigh more, potentially affecting acceleration?

Fuuuuuuuuu

So should I sell my 3.0 now, while it's still worth something? lol. But reality, "Available For: $62.99*" wonder what it actually is.

I'm not selling mine. I bet it's something that will upgrade the 3.0, regardless of the name of the item being (4.0) and at that price. It's definitely not another car, lol...

It you watched the 22T 3.0 release video from Frank Root... I might guess it is the laydown conversion for the Stadium Truck (body and chassis not included as the 22T 3.0 chassis is drilled for the laydown).

It was a typo people were saying. It's prolly the truck chassis seperate is what it's supposed to be.

I was upgrading my Spec Racer last night with the Gen 2 Hubs, Adjustable Spindles & open ball cups. When I installed the driveshaft I felt something rubbing, I realized the axles were rubbing on the inside of the hub. I looked into it and noticed the ballstud had pushed through slightly and was protruding into the bearing. I was using the kit setup with 2mm ballstud washer and 10mm ballstud.

I ended up running a roll tap (longer screw would work too) all the way through and trimming off the inside of the hole flush with a hobby knife.

Just wanted to mention this so people are careful when installing the new Gen 2 Hubs, ironically Frank Root mentioned the importance or using the correct ballstud length on the new hubs during the 22T 3.0 intro video.
