Gearing

I have a MF2 with Masher 2ks, for starters i tried 18/86 and it seemed to have way to much low end power. Do i need to gear up or down, i have 16, 17, 18, 19, 20t pinions only and 82 and 86t spurs.

Go up on your pinion. Try the 20. If that's still too much, try the 16/82 combo. Then just keep going up on the pinions from there until it's right.

Bigger pinion is more speed. Bigger the spur is more bottom end.

Hmm everyone was telling me you would have to gear mashers alot lower? I traded for this truck and it came with 20/86 gearing with normal sized tires and it seem to be pretty good, so you think 20/86 might work with mashers to?

So it goes

bigger t pinion more top end, less low end?
smaller pinion more low end, less top end?
bigger t spur more low end, smaller spur more high end?

Well i guess i will try the 86/20 and go from there im sure i can figure it out.

I got another question though, i bought Tamiya 48 pitch pinions and i tried them today and they don't sound good at all. Sound real ruff and loud, i tried adjusting the motor positioning to try and set the gears better but nothing helped.

Tamiya uses metric pinions and spurs. they do not mesh well with standard pinions and spurs. What motor are you running with your truck. You would gear lower with the mashers as they have a taller sidewall. If running a nice mod motor you should gear it 16-18/86 if running a stocker or 19 turn gear 18-20/82 as the stock motors have more torque then rpm. The MF2 is geared for better accel. over the original xxxt so I could be off by a tooth or so.

Alright cool i orderd some losi pinions. I got 16, 17, 18, 19t pinions hopefully that will give me enough options.
