I just built one of these and noticed you can put the rear shocks either in front or behind the shock tower, the instructions call for behind the shock tower but some people run the shocks in front. What's the difference in performance?

Like most cars with the option to mount shocks either in the front or rear of the tower, the front position will help steering as it places their mass further forward allowing the car to rotate a bit easier. In the Rear position it aides in increasing traction a touch for looser conditions. On the PRS1 however, shock positioning depends on which transmission layout you elect to run. If running Rear Motor, the shocks will be in front of the tower. If you go Mid-Motor, the shocks will sit behind of the tower. I don't recall seeing the shocks swapped around on the PRS1 with either motor configuration.

The best aesthetic feature of placing your shocks in front of the tower is that you'll no longer have to worry about cutting the notches out on your wing for shock clearance.

I have tried both and run mine on the rear most of the time, unless traction goes up a ton.

Well considering the V3 is a mid motor only car and I'm running on high bite clay I think it's safe to say that putting the shocks behind the tower is the way to go.

Sounds like running the shocks forward is better suited for carpet and running them back is better for clay.

Hey guys, just built my v3. Wondering if anyone has noticed any toe in bump steer on the car and if so, what did you do to get rid of it. Thanks

I noticed the bump-in, I'm running 2mm of washers and the outside hole on the steering block. Mine still has bump-in, but the car drives good so I'll leave it.

I ran mine shocks forward for stock, but my local track was also very high bite that weekend. It's definitely worth playing around with.

Just noticed you're from Vista, I grew up there. Graduated RBV in 97

Ok, my buddy bought a V3 also and tried both and said with the shocks forward car was a lot to handle.

Yeah man I've lived in Vista for the last 6 years but grew up in Encinitas.

Thanks for answering my question. I also had a question dealing with the axels. Is any one having troubles with them barely siting in the outdrives? And if so do they pop out at all at full droop?

I just looked at pr s1 v3 and noticed that there are no spur gear cover as v2.
Is there optional part to avoid stones to break the spur gear ?

I think it would look better finished with this cover (like Losi 22 3.0 or PR S1 V2 MM)
