Are all turnbuckles a weak spot? So far I only broke the front (28mm) ones.

No I don't but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. LOL
In all actuality the axles are identical with the exception perhaps being a bit longer so there are more threads to allow for a more secure hold on some aftermarket wheels. Currently a few aftermarket wheels leave very few threads so it can be difficult to secure them without torquing them down a bit excessively.
The bearing ID's remain unchanged from eh V2 to the V3.
In all actuality the axles are identical with the exception perhaps being a bit longer so there are more threads to allow for a more secure hold on some aftermarket wheels. It's hard to make wheel fitment recommendations when you've never put a wheel on the V3.
So much of the V3 is different from the previous car that your V2 experience is counterproductive in the V3 thread.

Maybe this information will help.
Standard Axle (66401086) This are the lightest of the three 2wd rear axle options.
Extended Axle (66410016) The threads are extended so that most, if not all, wheels on the market will fit.
Heavy Duty Axle (67410266) This axle is 5mm thick (versus 4mm for the other axles) and are the most durable. It requires a 5mm wheel nut, however.
All three axles will work with any PR Racing 2wd vehicle.

I don't have a V3 car but I do know PR makes a heavy duty 5mm axle for the rear of the SB401 using the same bearings as the V2. So PR could have adjusted the design of the 4mm axle to work better with aftermarket wheels. There was always two issues with all aftermarket wheels and s1 axles, one there wasn't enough thread exposed like you mentioned. Two, the wheels were a little loose on the axle so you had to pay attention when tightening the wheel to make sure it is square and didn't have a wooble.

Carpet killer!
The V3 is amazing on carpet. I had a chance to do some carpet testing last weekend. From a dirt setup, only changing front springs, removing ballast weight and lowering ride height I was matching the fast regulars hot laps on the 2nd battery pack. With a little more tuning the V3 is easily the best box stock carpet car, and gives the high dollar conversions a run!
