Welcome to the EB48.3 Wiki

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

Springs:
Low Grip Track:
TKR8772 – Yellow Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8762 – Grey Low Frequency Front Springs

Low to Medium Grip Track:
TKR8773 – Orange Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8763 – Black Low Frequency Front Springs

Medium to High Grip Track:
TKR8774 - Red Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8764 - Pink Low Frequency Front Springs

TKR5199B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, EB/NB/ET/NT48/48.3) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Able to be on power earlier on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6017T (front)
-TKR6061T (rear)

This car is very durable. Here are the spare parts that I recommend you keep on hand:
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR6061T – Rear Shock Shafts w/ TiNi Coating and TKR6017T – Front Shock Shafts w/ TiNi Coating
TKR5286 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5184 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5194 – Spindle Carriers
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Page 3 Step K-3
Put the screw in upside down so that the head of the screw is in the hex spot that's molded into the spindle. This will aid in clearance in full droop / full steering.

Page 12 Step I-2
Use no less than 4 shims on the steering spindle to limit steering throw. I actually just use one 2mm ball stud washer from my 10th scale stuff since each shim is .5mm.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here.

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

Basically the car is fine everywhere but at the last week end's race at the end of the straight the car would start bouncing violently until it fliped over. No drag brake was used.
The only way to keep it on it's 4 wheels was to gently ease off the throttle at the end and coast quite a while before using the brake for the first turn.
Any ideas ?
Did you build the shocks with the taper up ( /_\ )? Mine acted much like what you are describing and I flipped the piston taper down ( \_/ ) with the same oil and it was much better for my driving style.

Default Gearing

I'm new to 8th scale and just built one of these and installed tekin RX8 gen 2 and a t8 1900 kv motor and I'm wondering where to start for gearing, I mostly run on medium sized indoor clay tracks?

17-19 tooth pinions would cover you everywhere. 18t is probably what you want for that.

Default gearing

Since it's post related and has come up again, I started running a 2050kv tekin at 15t. No usable top end 5min runs on 5200mah
16. Usable top end, Temps at 90* but still eats a battery at about 10min.
17 I expect to be perfect!

Guys, EB48.3 will be here Thursday or Friday. I was gonna run a Pro4 4600KV on a 100C 2S HV pack temporarily.

But I've decided to go ahead and grab my motor.

I would like a 6S high efficiency setup.

T8i 1350KV, 17t pinion, and a 2500MAH 6S battery. The T8i is a 2 wye wind motor, I know they respond to timming very well

Plus the 2500MAH 6S will give me about 15-18 minute runtime with around a 145MAH per minute draw.

And it will run very cool. And the T8i is veryyy smooth.

Any suggestions?

I was going to run the 1wye 2700KV T8i on a 4S setup. But this does generate alot more heat, and power draw. It would be a ripper though.

Anyone run 1350kv on 6s?

I've ran the T8i 1350 and the T8 1400 buggy motor on 6S, I prefer the 1400 and it runs considerably cooler. Both using the SMC 6S 3600 pack.

do these pinions need to be purchased seperately or does the kit come with them?

The EB48.3 does not include pinions.

MOD1 5mm pinion is what you need, in the desired teeth. Tekno makes great pinions.

I was thinking how to save weight. The T8i is a little lighter, and I hear smoother. Also would use (2) Turnigy 70C 2200MAH packs. They weighed 6.7 ounces each! 13.4 ounces combined. That's light!!

My cousin is running (2) 3S 5600MAH packs. But they weight over 2 pounds combined.

What's the best packs to run, with good run time but I guess around 1 lbs together.

I'm going to run my RX8 Gen2 in it, with a Tekin Pro4 4600KV on 2S until I get my 1/8 buggy motor and 4S packs.

You guys think the Pro4 on 2S will move the EB48.3 around OK? It was a lightning bolt in the SCT.3 truck with a 17T pinion lol.

Also, do these EB48.3 kits include the cnc shock pack and the cnc conical pistons stock in the box?

Or do I need to pick some more up.
Hey I don't know if you are on a budget or not but I know I am and I have to watch every dollar I spend if you have not bought the Rx8 gen 2. I have a esc suggestion that I just love!!!! It is a skyrc toro ts150a!!! I love this thing and I run it with a 2350kv toro motor, on 4S and it is blazing fast and very smooth! I just ran the Roar Region 4 race all weekend and it worked beautifully!!! You can get the esc on ebay all day for about $90 but it ships from Hong Kong. But there is a an American distributor Caster usa. Also after doing some research I believe that skyrc is also G Force. I also skyrc esc for my 10th scales also. Just want to help someone save some money.

I have been running a Skyrc toro ts150a esc on my eb48.3 and I love it!! I love the price even more around $90 it is a steal!!! I buy mine from RC Mart. It does ship from Hong Kong and take a couple of weeks but it is so wrought it. In my opinion i will take it over a Tekin Rx8 Gen2 or a Hobbywing. Even if the price point was the same. Just my opinion.

I got my car up and running and it feels great for out of the box, but it feels like the shock oils could be better. Is there a good place for setups for this car besides tekno rc and petit rc? I run on medium sized indoor clay tracks like ocrc, but haven't found many set ups for the full sized car (EB48.3) only for the super lite, and since the car is so much heavier than the SL I wouldn't think the setups would transfer over.

I already have a RX8 Gen2, and a Tekin Pro4 4600kv. I sold my SCT.3 and purchased a EB48.3. So, I was just going to run my Tekin Pro4 temporary so I can drive the car with my RX8 Gen2 until I purchased a Tekin T8i motor.

I love my RX8 Gen2, it is one smart piece of equipment, I have Hotwire 2.0 and I can fine tune, and check data logging with my phone. And , it plugs in to the fan port. So, I don't have to disconnect the esc. It is truly great. The TORO beast is nice, and HW, and Toro all make great ESC's.

I use tower hobbies I paid $168 for my RX8 Gen 2 with a coupon. It can run 220 amps per phase, and a friend of mine is running 7S on his RX8 it handles the 29+ volts without a problem. There are alot of less expensive options out there. I guess the main reason why I chose a RX8 Gen 2 was for the support.
Also, if it is to expensive. You can grab one on Easy pay from Tower hobbies. With a coupon you can get it for $56, and the next month $56, and a final payment of $56. I did not buy mine on easy pay, but I do get kits on easy pay all the time especially when they range in price from $500 to 750. It's a great option.

I am interested in getting the Toro 120a it looks phenomenal! Reedy 410R with BT 4.0 for half $80 bucks! I will use it in a onroad.

I've been using towerhobbie since I was 9 years old. I'm 26 now. They are just great.
