Welcome to the EB48.3 Wiki

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

Springs:
Low Grip Track:
TKR8772 – Yellow Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8762 – Grey Low Frequency Front Springs

Low to Medium Grip Track:
TKR8773 – Orange Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8763 – Black Low Frequency Front Springs

Medium to High Grip Track:
TKR8774 - Red Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8764 - Pink Low Frequency Front Springs

TKR5199B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, EB/NB/ET/NT48/48.3) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Able to be on power earlier on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6017T (front)
-TKR6061T (rear)

This car is very durable. Here are the spare parts that I recommend you keep on hand:
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR6061T – Rear Shock Shafts w/ TiNi Coating and TKR6017T – Front Shock Shafts w/ TiNi Coating
TKR5286 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5184 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5194 – Spindle Carriers
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Page 3 Step K-3
Put the screw in upside down so that the head of the screw is in the hex spot that's molded into the spindle. This will aid in clearance in full droop / full steering.

Page 12 Step I-2
Use no less than 4 shims on the steering spindle to limit steering throw. I actually just use one 2mm ball stud washer from my 10th scale stuff since each shim is .5mm.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here.

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

It really doesn't need any .4 upgrades. You can add teh .4 ackerman and spindles, but that's all that will be easy to do. But, IMHO, after switching radio's with a buddy, just work on track time and setup. both cars equally capable as is.

Also an often overlooked change us the diff gear ratio, dropping from 4:1 to 3.33:1.

Not really an oversight, more of an unknown if that really makes a big difference.

I did for a while for indoors. gearing you can use the same as the SCT. 4000kv then 17t...4300kv 15t-16t...4500 15t-16t...4600 14t-15t

I adjusted pinions based on you saying it was a small track. If it is small, and tight, with a short straight, stick to these. If it is just small, but not very technical, and flows well, add a tooth possibly for all recommendations. Especially if you have a decent straight.

And as far as setup, I would start with the recommended indoor\outdoor setup, and adjust from there. I'm pretty close to that myself.

Misty's SL (my old SCT) is running 2 cell with a 4000KV geared with a 19 tooth. But she's running on tracks roughly the same size as Rama.

It's fast... real fast

Thanks for that information. Any heat issues with a 4150 and a 17 tooth? Using a maclan mr4 and a hobbywing xr8.

19t on a 4000kv? That's pretty tall, and I bet fast as hell on a big track. Better than undergeared though!

I think, for a small track, you might be in the 16t-17t area. I'd start with 17t, and see if it is too much.

well we ran it with a 17 and it was slow. We ran it with an 18 and it was pretty quick. Temps with a 18 were in the 160 range on the motor. I thought we might be over revving so we went up to a 19. Temps stayed at 160. So that's where we left it. That was with a regular racer driving it, not her. When she's driving, it never goes over 110

And David was telling me at Rama to gear up more and more, said I was way under. I think I'm about where he said I should be now

I always ran an 18t on my 4000kv motors in SCT. Your making me want to find another just to try a 19t!! Pretty happy with my SMC 4500kv on 16t though. It doesn't need any more speed, but it does need a better driver.

For any of you guys who still have the EB48.3, I can't stress this enough........ Try the Recommended Outdoor Setup. You'll fall in love with the car all over again.

Keep in mind, you do need to buy some optional parts in order to run this setup, but I think it's well worth it.

I was just scanning over this setup sheet last night on tekno's site. It is similar to the setup I am using now. Originally I started with the box set up but I have been reading "tekno's set up guide" a lot and eventually evolved into the set up I have now. Still have a few tweaks I feel to do but its almost right where I want it.

And I agree its a great car!!

Default Pinion Selection

EB48.3 is a great car.

Most setup sheets showed that 1900KV with 19T.
Do I need to gear up like the pros do?

Thanks,
