Welcome to the EB48.3 Wiki

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

Springs:
Low Grip Track:
TKR8772 – Yellow Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8762 – Grey Low Frequency Front Springs

Low to Medium Grip Track:
TKR8773 – Orange Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8763 – Black Low Frequency Front Springs

Medium to High Grip Track:
TKR8774 - Red Low Frequency Rear Springs and TKR8764 - Pink Low Frequency Front Springs

TKR5199B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, EB/NB/ET/NT48/48.3) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Able to be on power earlier on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6017T (front)
-TKR6061T (rear)

This car is very durable. Here are the spare parts that I recommend you keep on hand:
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR6061T – Rear Shock Shafts w/ TiNi Coating and TKR6017T – Front Shock Shafts w/ TiNi Coating
TKR5286 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5184 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5194 – Spindle Carriers
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Page 3 Step K-3
Put the screw in upside down so that the head of the screw is in the hex spot that's molded into the spindle. This will aid in clearance in full droop / full steering.

Page 12 Step I-2
Use no less than 4 shims on the steering spindle to limit steering throw. I actually just use one 2mm ball stud washer from my 10th scale stuff since each shim is .5mm.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here.

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

Is anyone running the VRP pistons?
I tried the 5x1.5 but was totally lost for oils
What are people running?

The top level guys are the ones that came up with the diff spacer I believe.

Perhaps, but after speaking with the guys at Tekno that designed the buggy, they strongly advised AGAINST running the spacer. Too many negative risks, vs. the small gain that it might give.

I was going to try it, but decided not to after that conversation....

Correct.

I think for support/warranty reasons, this is their official stance.

I can tell you that I run that shim everywhere though and have yet to find a negative. My cars have been amazing the last few weeks. I was chasing the air leak Sat so I missed my tune heavily on my NB so it's not fair for me to say how it was or wasn't handling.

Obviously I can't speak for Matt or any of the other Tekno employees, but pretty much the entire team runs them. I haven't asked Joe or Ryan if they do still, but they were the ones who tested it and came up with it. I run it on both NB and EB.

Start with Joe's Southern Nats setup. Add the cut arms and raised rear diff. Adjust from there.

I have the new 3 hole pistons on the way. If you try them, just remember you need to go up aproximately 200cst oil from the kit pistons for your starting point. So if you run 400/450, start with 600/650 and then adjust from there.

No mostly because they don't have 'Tekno friendly' hole / size combos at the moment. I've heard rumors that may change, but for now, I've ruled them out.

Right now is a setup out on the Tekno site that is considered the goto setup for rough, 1/8 sized tracks that are truly loose dirt, low traction?

Assume tires like a blockade or a caliber work on it, m3 or m4 compound.

pretty much narrowed it down to the EB48.3 buggy. If and when I place my order I'd like to throw a couple pinions in there for tuning. Going to run the CC MM2 2200kv on 4s 5000mAh 50C, track is fast but the turns are tight and theres a few doubles and a triple, like to able to have the nuts to clear the triple and zip out of the corners, any suggestions?

Ditch the CCMM2 / 2200v combo and drop in a Tekin RX8 or hobby wing XR8 ESC with a sensored Tekin or SMC 1900Kv motor (the latter are both more affordable). 16, 17 & 18 tooth pinions should cover all your gearing needs and you'll have plenty zip.

I would start with 15 and have 16 available.

I think I run 19 with a 1900KV motor so back it down a couple teeth and start there.

19t? Hmm...I ran 19t last year, and dropped to 18t this year....Debated trying 19t last race weekend. The track didn't warrant it though.
